An important publication for Prof. Amos Korchin

The results of the study by Professor Amos Korchin - Director of Memory Disorders Research, Ichilov Department of Neurology, regarding the improvement of memory indices after Viacog treatment, were published in the scientific journal Dementia and geriatric cognitive disorders

As part of the study, the effectiveness of the Viacog nutritional supplement was tested compared to placebo, among 157 adults who were diagnosed as having memory problems (without dementia) for 15 weeks, and later, in an open study in which all participants of the first phase were treated with Viacog for an additional 15 weeks.

In the study it was found that the unique combination in the composition of Viacog significantly improved a variety of memory indicators (immediate and delayed memory, learning ability among a group of participants)

and resulted in an improvement in the quality of life of the subject and his family.

The use of "Viacog" was found to be safe and without unusual/significant side effects.

The diagnosis and assessment were made at the beginning and at the end of the study using diagnostic tools accepted in the scientific/medical literature and included a test to test memory and learning ability and an interview with a clinician.

  • Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test (RAVLT) - a verbal test that examines memory and learning abilities.
  • Clinical Global Impression of Change (CGIC) - a clinician's assessment that reflects the degree of improvement felt by the participant following the treatment.
  • - NexAde™ a series of computerized assessment tests to test various cognitive abilities such as attention, concentration, memory and learning.

The safety aspects that were tested included, among other things, blood tests, a doctor's examination, vital indicators (pulse and blood pressure), height and weight measurements, and monitoring of side effects.

The nutritional supplement "Viakog" contains an advanced and unique formula that combines nutrients from natural sources that have undergone appropriate processing in production. These components have the potential to affect a variety of cognitive abilities: phosphatidyl serine and omega-3 enriched in DHA. The combination of the above ingredients simulates the phosphatidyl-serine found naturally in our brain.

Omega 3 enriched with DHA Omega 3 is a family of essential fatty acids for the human body. The fatty acids DHA and EPA are omega 3 fatty acids. There is scientific evidence of a possible link between these fatty acids and the development of the brain and its function, as well as some evidence of a possible link between their deficiency and neurological and behavioral problems. Several studies have found a connection between relatively low levels of omega-3 fatty acids in the blood and a variety of memory problems, and that enriching the daily diet with these acids, especially DHA, may lead to an improvement in a variety of memory indices.

phosphatidyl serine- A component of the human brain that is essential for the normal activity of our body's cells, including brain cells. It was found that phosphatidyl-serine affects signal transmission, metabolism, the activity of specific proteins in the brain as well as other processes involved in learning and memory. With increasing age we see a decrease in its concentration.

The nutritional supplement "Viacog" is marketed by Teva and developed by the Israeli biotechnology company Enzymotech - during the development of the nutritional supplement "Viacog" - which lasted about three years - emphasis was placed on examining its effectiveness in clinical studies, in which the effectiveness and safety of "Viacog" were tested.

  1. Many cognitive enhancement drugs adversely affect the heart (arrhythmia) especially in the elderly population which is the target population. And the other part causes addiction.
This is why Teva is trying to market the drug as a food supplement and bypass the FDA

  2. With all due respect to the professor, I don't like articles that smear commercials like this, and I really don't run to believe in blind faith that taking Viacog increases memory indicators.

I didn't see the evidence, as far as I'm concerned as a detail, maybe it's true or maybe not, an article in the flavor of marketing-to-a-close-friend on the science website, is not evidence as far as I'm concerned.

I have not yet read the professor's research, I have not yet seen results in the field, everything that is said is a personal opinion.

    Send greetings.
