A conspiracy theory claiming that fifth generation (5G) radiation can cause the spread of the corona virus is sweeping social media. The myth apparently gained momentum when a Belgian doctor linked the "dangers" of the fifth generation technology to the appearance and spread of the virus in an interview conducted with him in January of this year. Also social media, for example the Stop5G Australia Facebook group with close to thirty-two thousand members, publishes several records linking the spread of the virus and technology.

Publishing such misinformation is not only wrong, it is even destructive. The British newspaper 'The Guardian' reported that since last Thursday at least twenty mobile communication antennas in the UK have been set on fire or severely damaged in some other way. A representative of one of the mobile communication networks in the United Kingdom 'MobileUK' published the message as follows: "We have experienced cases of deliberate destruction while setting fire to communication antennas, damaging vital infrastructures and spreading false information claiming a link between fifth generation technology and the Corona epidemic."

Celebrities - stay in your field

Many entities and individuals rushed to refute this myth, including communications ministers, cyber security corporations and well-known artists, claiming that the corona virus spreads through contact between people, and not through radio waves. However, many groups and public figures continue to support and spread this myth; For example, the actor Woody Harrelson and the singer Keri Hilson both shared with their fans content claiming a connection between the fifth generation technology and the corona virus.

The members of the Facebook group mentioned above claimed that the six hundred cases of illness and the eleven deaths that occurred on the 'Ruby Princess' cruise ship originated from the fact that such ships are "saturated with radiation". This claim is incorrect. While such ship passengers can indeed use mobile wireless communication services on board the ship itself, these services are not based on fifth generation technology. Cruise ships do not yet implement this technology.
One of the petitions demands that the Australian government stop the deployment of this technology since it could, so to speak, "negatively affect our immune system" (a claim for which the amount of evidence is exactly zero). This petition includes more than twenty-seven thousand signatories.

How does the radiation of fifth generation radio signals work?

The difference between fifth generation technology and previous generations of mobile services (third/fourth generation) lies in the fact that the new generation uses lower radio frequencies (below the 6 GHz range), but also uses frequencies in the 300-30 GHz range.

At frequencies in the range of 300-30 GHz there is not enough energy to break chemical bonds or remove electrons when the radiation is in contact with human tissue. Therefore, this field is defined as 'non-ionizing' electromagnetic radiation. The federal government's Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency has certified this radiation as not causing the same adverse health effects as more powerful radiation. Radiation can come into contact with the skin, for example, when we place a fifth generation mobile device on top of our ear to make a phone call. At this moment we are most exposed to non-ionizing radiation. However, this degree of exposure is far below the recommended safety threshold. The fifth generation radiation is not able to penetrate through the skin, or allow the virus to penetrate our body through the skin. There is no proof that radio frequencies operating in the fifth generation cause or worsen the spread of the corona virus.

In addition, the protein envelope of the virus cannot be damaged by the radio signals of the fifth generation. This is because radiation and viruses exist in different forms that do not react with each other. One is a biological phenomenon and the other exists within the electromagnetic spectrum.
The radio waves of the fifth generation are called 'millimeter waves' since their wavelengths are measured in millimeters. Since these waves are short, the transmission antennas in the fifth generation should be relatively close to each other - at a distance of about two hundred and fifty meters. These antennas are deployed as a defined collection within small area cells (an area cell is an area covered by the radio signals). In order for fifth generation technology to be able to cover a larger geographical area, more transmission antennas are needed compared to the number required for fourth generation. This increase in the number of transmission antennas, and their relative proximity to people, is one of the main reasons that may arouse unfounded fears regarding the possible health effects of the fifth generation technology.

Your cell phone may be dangerous, but its radiation is not

The corona virus spreads through tiny droplets emitted from the nose or mouth of a sick person while coughing, spitting, sneezing, talking or blowing air out. Infection occurs when the droplets come into contact with the nose, eyes or mouth of a healthy person. Thus, if a sick person talks through the phone that is close to his mouth, then enough infected droplets can land on his surface and turn him into an object that can infect others. That is why it is not recommended to share mobile phones with each other during the epidemic. In addition, the mobile device must be disinfected regularly.

Why are we even having this discussion?

It is obvious to many of us that a virus cannot spread through radio waves, and this type of conspiracy may be related to a widespread distrust of governments, more generally. Addressing this myth is now essential in light of the fact that properties are being damaged and private individuals are being attacked. Physical and verbal threats against broadband engineers can be added to a long list of attacks against health care workers. As millions of people rely on high-speed Internet to work and study from home, this vital communication infrastructure is under threat. Conspiracy theories led to a wave of targeted arson attacks against XNUMXG broadcast antennas in Belfast, Liverpool and Birmingham. The heads of YouTube have announced that they will dedicate resources to remove content that claims a connection between the fifth generation technology and the corona virus. This announcement came after fingers were pointed at a certain video that was published on March XNUMX (which was viewed more than six hundred and seventy thousand times), in which an American doctor claimed, incorrectly, that the African continent is less affected by the corona virus because it does not have the implementation of the fifth generation technology. The video remains available online at the time of this article's publication.

  1. It is clear that you can cause damage with any technology you want to implement, just as you can use a car to run over people who think differently. The fundamental question of whether "non-ionized" radiation causes health damage under "normal" use is physically clear: no! This is not a false belief in new technology but a question of energy, facts that are hard to ignore in light of our knowledge of various branches of science in the last two hundred (!) years. A minimum of energy is needed to create any phenomenon in a wave of matter, the energy of radiation comes in "packages" called "photons" and their absorption in matter is subject to the law of "all or nothing" (the basis of quantum theory) and therefore only the radiation of energetic photons can cause damage , and the photons of radio transmissions (wireless networks or radio and television stations) are at frequencies that do not allow them to be energetic (the flux can be powerful, meaning many photons per unit of time, but each photon by itself cannot cause a chemical reaction). It's like what you know from the military: to penetrate thick armor, you have to hit it with an energetic projectile (an armor-piercing shell), whereas a massive stream of machine gun bullets, lots of projectiles but each one not energetic enough, will not penetrate. These are not "presumed" things but principles that have been tested in countless phenomena and experiments, in fact it is difficult to understand anything in our world - including the ability to transmit any radiation - without the above insights.

  2. There is something similar but not with phone radiation...
    A cow's food-ali desha-is very yiin and when fed
Cow [or Kibsa\goat] with the meat of a cow that was slaughtered before
Produce mad cow prions. process was
Known in ancient Greece and has signs in mythology.
By the way - feeding a cow with chicken meat intensifies the production of prions, although it prevents infection

  3. It can be argued that smelly socks cause obesity
    More but please specify how.
Unsorted radiation still heats and also affects
Electric current...it is clear that a mobile phone causes current disruption
Electrical in the brain area responsible for verbal-scientific reasoning
    and mature moral judgment.
A balance organ will also be damaged by this which neutralizes
Seasickness in a state of incompatibility with vision…
And this allows the insertion of obtrusive advertisement screens
Harmless without the complaints of the enslaved audience without sense
    essential.

  4. In my humble opinion, it would have been more correct to write in the title something like; According to these researchers or scientists (then) 5g is not…
Because as far as I am concerned, Hadaan is considered a reliable site, and to state unequivocally (and this after there are no studies on the subject) that 5g does not harm is not reliable
Thanks and sorry for the comment

  5. The problem is not in WordPress, but in the lack of knowledge in using it or in the lack of knowledge in developing an rtl template.

  6. Everyone claims differently. I don't know what to believe!!!
I have one iron rule, but if it's too complex, it's probably a regret, so I choose the option that it's harmful

  7. Today the antennas that are deployed in China and also in the West mainly use frequencies up to 6Ghz which is in the range of the WiFi frequencies that everyone has at home... with frequencies of 25 plus gigabytes there is a problem because the antennas that produce the signals at 25 gigabytes and above consist of dozens of antennas capable of concentrating cellular energy to one point and creating Damage (of course this does not happen during normal operation, but in the event that someone hacks into the antenna's software, this is a situation that can happen) so in my opinion the technology of the fifth generation is problematic and information security is needed to prevent damage...in addition to compromising privacy due to the speed of information...

  8. I agree with Doron, dealing directly with the corona virus from 5th generation technology is far from the point...
There are still no large enough studies that can disprove the danger to public health from the radiation inherent in the new technology.
And this is in addition to the radiation that we are surrounded by, maybe you will review the subject of generation 5 radiation?

  9. lav davka korona, aval krina cellulararit goremet dica'on ume'shabesh et hachasinut ve'et hahitnagdut le'tapilim lachotenet, lepirsomot… letapilim acherim…

  10. One might think that only now has humanity come down from the trees. The radiation becomes ionizing and dangerous as the waves get shorter from ultraviolet onwards. The waves from cellular antennas radiate long infrared and visible light and are therefore not dangerous. There is nothing more clear than that.

  11. Addressing weaker claims is also a kind of straw man, when most of the people who oppose the deployment of 5G do not really claim that it leads to Corona and the writer chooses to deal with a handful that do while ignoring the more logical arguments.
The deployment of a 5G communication network will increase the public's exposure to electromagnetic radiation. Even if it does not break chemical bonds, it is not an insurance certificate that it is not dangerous. Can anyone guarantee that in another 20 years they won't find a mechanism to damage the frequency of the 5G network as well? Maybe damage to other species that the ecosystem depends on?
It is also necessary to criticize the choice to deploy the 5G network precisely during the isolation period (here is the context for Corona) when it is not possible to gather for demonstrations or hold a poignant public discussion on the matter because the public discourse is busy with Corona.
