Calculating the water path gives the consumer information and understanding that will help determine the relationship to the product and the manufacturer... in a world where water is becoming valuable. An index that will allow the consumer to know the cost and amount of water required to produce, transport and serve the product.
Examples of products (consumption) that require large amounts of water to produce are, among others, cotton and beef. At the University of Twente in the Netherlands, a (voluntary) organization was established that calls itself the Water Footprint Network (WFN).

The USA is the highest in terms of water per capita (as in greenhouse gas emissions), when for each resident 2,9 million liters are pumped every year. After the USA are the Japanese, with 65% of their water consumption in imported products.
Since public awareness is increasing, since more consumers are interested in knowing their water footprint and reducing it, more and more companies and organizations are turning to the "association" and its affiliates to have their water footprint measured.
Since we started in beer, the beer giant SABMiller was one of the first to publish its water policy, at the World Water Week conference held in Stockholm.
The data was collected in South Africa and the Czech Republic by the World Conservation Organization WWF and the "association" (WFN). It turned out that: to produce a liter of beer in DRAP, 155 liters of water were pumped, while in the Czech Republic, only 45 liters of water were pumped to produce the same liter! The "association" is supposed to publish a guide for calculating the water footprint, by individuals, industrial companies, corporations or states, already today there are environmental organizations that demand that the water footprint be part of the published information on food product labels, information that will allow the consumer to influence the water footprint - The personal water.
Many manufacturers express skepticism about the marking of the waterway, claiming that this marking is impractical due to the multitude of products, a multitude that will cause confusion and unnecessary complication for the manufacturers? Manufacturers understand that the clearer the "product story" is, the more consumers (responsible) will increase that their environment is important to them.

By 2025, about 3 billion people will suffer from a lack of water, one of the right ways/options to prevent thirst is by saving and reducing the amount of water.
