De'a: Tisha B'av: From your enemies and your destroyers, they came out of you

The history of politics - the kings of Judah towards the end of the First Temple and the fanatics towards the destruction of the Second Temple did not correctly assess the world politics of their time

This statistic was published after Dr. Sorek wrote the article, but they match: almost every second Israeli fears the destruction of the State of Israel. This is according to a survey conducted by the TNS Institute for the Museum of the Biblical Lands in Jerusalem in preparation for T'Bav starting today. The survey shows that 42 percent of Israelis currently fear the destruction of the country, and about ten percent of them even fear it very much.
In response to the question of what is the greatest threat to the State of Israel today, it appears that the Israeli public is most afraid of a nuclear attack (about 28%), gratuitous hatred within Israel (about 22%) and corruption among decision makers (about 19%).

On the very eve of Tisha B'Av, when, and perhaps like many others, I am ordered, mentally and intellectually, to come to terms with myself, at least, I would like to lay out here, briefly, my mishna sederah in this regard.

I do not seek to settle accounts with the mourners and those who fast, but only to ask why the atmosphere of mourning is forced upon my shoulders.

I don't want to come to terms with those who want to tie the fall of the First Temple and the destruction of the Second Temple to this particular date - XNUMXth of Av, and even if the day of Lent is Madrabanan.

I do not wish to settle accounts with those who believe that redemption will come precisely on this day, or with those who adhere to the apocalyptic idea that precisely on this date the Messiah King will be born.

I also do not want to come to an account with those who believe that the fast of the XNUMXth of Av was practiced during the Second Temple period and even after the destruction of the Temple, because the opinions on the subject are divided.

So what am I asking for? To briefly examine the common, historical background that led to the common destruction, that led to the determination of the day of mourning discussed in the calendar in our places.
The two disasters were not caused or brought about by the "bad guys", i.e. the Babylonians on the one hand and the Romans on the other, but "our forces". "Our forces" mainly. It is about a chain of events that led to the outbreak of a rebellion against these "evil" rulers. The difference between the fire-starters of the rebellion is folded in the Jerusalem, royal leadership, i.e. Hezekiah and Josiah the kings of Judah versus the Assyrians and Zedekiah versus the Babylonians. And in front of them extreme, popular, messianic, deadly and vengeful sects, which led to the uprising against the Romans.

It should be noted that unlike the accepted opinions that were assimilated among the public living in Zion from the beginning of the national movement and the nationalist-nationalist trends since the establishment of the state in relation to the sanctity of the tribal fire, which miraculously raised the motif of rebellion and the ethos of the righteousness of the road and the myth of the "few-against-the-many" and "the whole world" against us" and more like this, in order to justify, elevate and glorify historical stations in the nation's history, it turns out, regarding the two events - the destruction of the First Temple and the destruction of the Second Temple, not only that they could have been prevented, but that the factors, reasons and circumstances that led to the double destruction, were a combination of perceptions Perverted geopolitics from one and predatory fanaticism from another.

Both Hezekiah, Josiah and Zedekiah were born with a geopolitical blindness of a distorted assessment of the various political factors that operated in the region, and to this we can add an obsessive reliance on God's help as a result of some ritual reforms, which had personal motives, more than touched by obvious megalomania.

The same infrastructural motives motivated the rebel groups, starting with the first attempts after the collapse of the Hasmonean House and the inclusion of Roman rule in Judea led by disgruntled descendants of the Hasmonean House to the growth of the esoteric, messianic sects, whose eyes must have looked at the geopolitical situation in the region and above all the absolute power differences between the Romans and the Jews .

No, I am not ignoring the difficult and sometimes socially and economically difficult situation that prevailed in Judea from the period of the second commission (44 AD) until the outbreak of the Great Revolt (66 AD), but it could certainly have been dealt with by moderate measures and negotiations with the Romans, and not used as a scapegoat to dig into In order to sweep away as many as are desperate and needy on the flow of the messianic enthusiasm. And perhaps just to explain the ear and the eye, it is worth mentioning how those extreme groups fought with rage and obsession with each other, when Jerusalem was surrounded by Titus' besieging forces and how the fanatical Sicari group, for example, burned the food treasures that had been prepared in advance in Jerusalem, just to increase the madness of the mind and the mind and aim against the Romans. And acts of this kind led to terrible phenomena of cannibalism even within the family itself. And when all the summers were over, fanatical groups fortified themselves inside the temple, which is a very serious transgression, thereby attracting the Roman army at the very end of the breaching of the walls of Jerusalem and the massive Roman break-in.

And as a continuation of the distortion created over the years in relation to the sage's article - that the Second Temple was destroyed because there was gratuitous hatred in it. We have always argued before us that it was the lack of consensus that brought destruction on the people of Israel, and this also had, at the time and even to this day, purely political motives, and even to explain such and other military failures. Hatred for nothing was practiced primarily between the fanatical groups themselves, and even when? In the midst of the siege of Jerusalem. And secondly - towards the moderates, who were the ones who understood the terrible disaster that was about to fall on Judah's head. They understood, and they were the ones who were accused of colluding with the Romans. And by the way, a complete waste.

Well, in light of these facts, I will have a hard time understanding how the condemned day of mourning, whose origin, beyond weeping and lamentation, is rooted in such dubious factors, was sanctified in the Jewish ethos and myth.

When you cut the ends of a thread - do the ends of the thread disappear?
    Think about it.
    The same with humans.
After you "take care" of the extremists, and only you and your opponent remain, you too will become an extremist.
(In general, your entire reaction is extreme. "The ultra-Orthodox must also be kept away" Aalek)

  2. Shpo for an analytical article, smart.
The lesson to be learned from the destruction of the First and Second Temples and from the history of the world in general: extremists must not be allowed to dictate a people's policy.
The people have the wisdom of crowds. And usually the right policy is a central policy neutralizing the extremists from each side. This is a policy that virtually the entire nation can live with. The extremists must be denounced, and they must be fought. For this, a strong government is needed that knows what is in front of it.
To interpret for today: to remove from power the Jewish Home and Israel our homes as well as Meretz and the Arab parties.
Because of religious reasons - the ultra-Orthodox must also be kept away.
What we will get is a balanced and smart mix: Likud, Kahlon, Lapid, the Labor Party.
If it weren't for my ego - we would have then received a smart and strong government that would lead the country far
Dreams in aspemia, I wish upon us.
What we have in recent years is a government that consists of the right 60 centimeters of the ruler. This is bad government. which actually runs a policy that is sarcastic in the eyes of the 60-70 centimeter left. (Most of the people!!).
This is what dictates the way democracy is implemented - the practice in Israel.

What is good about Dr. Yachiam is his cold and objective analysis of the historical situation. He also details with great precision how he arrived at all his conclusions and presents opposing views. You will never know what his personal position and political inclination are because with him work is separate and political views are separate. A real pleasure.

How do you think the United States soldiers would react if, for example, the Indians decided they wanted independence and threw blocks and Molotov cocktails at a patrol passing through their town?

  5. There are two extreme concepts from each other.
    A. Free love
    B. and the opposite concept.
I will talk about the positive concept and from that it will be possible to project the negative concept.
Well the basis of free love is basic unconditional love. In the example of parents' love for their child that was born to them.. they invest efforts.. even though the child wakes them up in the middle of the night.. they change and feed and clothe and take care of all the needs without any reason or demand... this is free love... only later as this love grows do we find virtues in our children that sometimes we amplify the virtues above the real reality.. this is called free love... and when our children make a mistake we will protect them at all costs... this is free love.. and all of this is rooted in the foundation... love without initial conditions.. and then we find virtues in others.. and according to This is exactly the opposite in the second method.. and now the education in Tisha B'Av comes to teach the first method towards the creations of the creator of the world... and this is the inner work of each one with himself... such work leads to unity and strength... and the second to separation and weakness... and the choice is not taken From none of us.. And enough for wisdom with a hint

  6. Iran: You opened your comment with the words "let's get the facts straight" and you've already won me over. Finally a wise man, who determines his opinions not based on a mindset but based on solid facts only. I agree with this mechanism and take my hat off to you for demanding that others be accurate in the facts.

Then you state as a fact: "In every reformed country a stone is picked up or a Molotov cocktail is shot on the spot without questions." If this is true, I promise to reconsider all my positions.

Therefore, I would like to specify a list of such amended countries. "list" because you wrote "in all". Meaning, there are many such countries. I think a modest list of ten countries would be fine.

You know what - because you're so nice I'll settle for five.

And God does not know what generosity caught me today - two!

    Well, I broke down. One!!!

(If you don't tell us who those reformed countries are, I might think that you're not that smart, but just someone who fucks the brain. But it seems to me that's not the case, and that you're an educated person who doesn't just throw words around and base theories on them. After all, you're a person of "facts" ).

  7. Four comments:
    1. You don't even understand the meaning of the phrase in the title of the article.
Contrary to conventional wisdom, the phrase "from your destroyers and your destroyers came out of you" has no meaning.
that your enemies are your people
But your enemies will be swept away from you in battle.
    2. The right of a group to choose to die on its feet than to choose to live on its knees.
    3. It's really not certain that without the rebellion our situation would have been better.
If we look at the Samaritans, who used to be as numerous as the Jews and today they number only hundreds of people.
So it turns out that what we didn't do was probably a better decision than theirs.
    4. A donkey remains a donkey.
Even if he has a doctorate before his name.

  8. Let's get the facts straight.
Indeed, from your enemies and your destroyers they came out of you.
Below are BDS Jews, and Jews like some reporters in "Aretz" who call for a boycott of Israel.
And all those wonderful Jews who help and support pushing Israel into a corner, etc., etc.

And yes, on the other hand, you have hill youth who are extremists. But the actions of extreme leftist organizations tie the hands of the IDF and then soldiers have to pay with their blood because they are not allowed to defend themselves. In any reformed country, a stone is lifted or a Molotov cocktail is fired on the spot without questions, here are investigative committees.
And if you want an analogy to the past... the Romans were originally invited to Israel as "arbiters", and the Greeks had quite a few collaborators who helped them.
On the other side you have the extremes of the end of the second stanza of course.

So what is the lesson from the past? ..here is a real lesson.
    1. Have you seen an extremist? No matter which side? Get rid of him quickly or block him quickly...if it's organizations calling for a boycott, block foreign funding for them, and if it's the Givat youth, hereafter "weeds", give the Shin Bet permission to hunt them down as a terrorist organization because this whole area is a barrel of explosives anyway.
    2. Regarding regional powers, which have always been the cause of destruction: there is nothing to worry about, all that is needed is to lower your head a little and do an Italian strike...Obama too, like a mad Roman emperor in the past, will leave in a moment. And as for Iran, don't worry, it will be a problem for the whole world and not just ours very soon.
You don't need to attack and you don't need to tell anyone that Hussein Obama is not explicit.. You need to tell him yes yes and procrastinate. There is nothing more to be done with such a thing that is in power and in the current constellation in the world.

So who will take care of it? Extremist Islam..as of now there have been more than 21 attacks in the United States despite Obama's attempts to cover it up, and in Europe the situation is much worse. It will blow up in their face sooner rather than later.

And on a personal note..after an election campaign in which people (right from the left) kicked me off Facebook because I didn't react like them, god forbid, it's time for people to learn to differentiate between political choice and death hatred.
Thank God there is Hamas that unites us, what would we do without it.

  9. Not true. !
    The Romans destroyed Judah,
Because they had to build the Colosseum!!!
    It appears clearly
    In the history films
    .....

  10. The question is whether this article has a political implication of the author of the article (guess: you saw a left-wing world)
which stems from current politics and projecting his worldview on what happened 2000 years ago,
More in the direction of an interpretation of events through the eyes of the author of the article,
The question is whether the author of the article was captured by the attempt to scatter symbols at the expense of sticking to questions of historical scientific value, after all a different interpretation can give different answers to each topic he brought up in the article,
Or he from his worldview brings us additional perspectives of history,
And perhaps a person who wants to understand the historical reality should read with skepticism
from different sources and do some weighing between them in order to reach a better understanding of reality.

  11. There is a common error in the title. In the source of the sentence, it is said in a positive sense, that is, the causes of evil will go away and it will be better ("Hurry your children from your destruction and your swords from you; let those who are around your eyes and see all gathered together come to you alive, I say the Lord, for you shall clothe them all as witnesses and bind them together as a bride" Isaiah XNUMX:XNUMX) indent). In later midrasims the misleading interpretation appearing in the title was added.
