In the world of elementary particles, in front of every particle of matter there exists a particle of antimatter that is equal to it in everything, but carries an opposite electric charge. Still, Prof. Dan Shahar, from the Department of Condensed Matter Physics at the Weizmann Institute of Science, was surprised when he discovered a phenomenon that no one had seen before. He studied the phenomenon of superconductivity, which occurs when an electrically conductive material (metal or ceramic material) is cooled to very low temperatures, as a result of which its resistance to the conduction of an electric current decreases and reaches zero, that is, the material does not resist an electric current passing through it at all. Or, if you want to express it positively, the material allows a constant flow of electric current, without any "fee collection". Therefore, such a material is called a "superconductor".
Superconductors may be used, among other things, to conduct high current over great distances, to build magnets that produce an extremely strong magnetic field (necessary, for example, to build very fast trains and powerful particle accelerators), to create sensors for tiny magnetic fields, to develop various computer components, and more. But, the phenomenon of superconductivity takes place under defined conditions of temperature and order, and the "reach" of this property and its loss encode phenomena, some of which are not fully understood. For example, when you create a superconductor from a conducting material, which has a relatively low level of order, and then cause it to lose its superconducting property (by heating, for example), the material does not return to its original state (normal conductor), but becomes an insulator. This phenomenon depends on the degree of original disorder of the material. It takes place only beyond a certain level of disorder.
Prof. Shahar, research student from Oz Ovadia and the members of the research group, chose to "spoil" the superconductivity property in another way - by activating a strong magnetic field. They created a superconductor from a material with a low level of order (but not one that causes the superconductor to become an insulator as a result of heating), and applied a strong magnetic field to it. When they examined the dependence of the current on the voltage, while slowly changing the strength of the magnetic field and the temperature, they discovered to their surprise that in a certain combination the material loses its superconducting property, but does not become, neither a normal conductor (its original state), nor a normal insulator (the phenomenon known in materials not arranged). In this place they observed, for the first time in the world, a material that had completely lost the ability to conduct an electric current.
In other words, they discovered a phenomenon that was immediately dubbed superinsulation, the complete opposite of superconductivity. Scientists still do not understand the phenomenon of superinsulation, which has meanwhile been discovered in a number of materials and has been observed in other parts of the world. It may be related in some way to the fact that strong magnetic fields penetrate a superconductor and create a kind of "magnetic eddies" in it that spoil the superconductivity property.
Some scientists suggest treating these eddies as a kind of particles, which under certain conditions react to the current by creating a high voltage, which means the formation of the super-insulating property. One way or another, it is clear that at this stage much is hidden about to be revealed, and many more discoveries are expected in this field of research. The super-insulation phenomenon currently takes place at temperatures of 40 thousandths of one degree Kelvin (very close to absolute zero).
But super-insulators that will operate at room temperature - if we do manage to develop them - could be a solution to the problem of the heating of electronic components, and allow the production of transistors that do not lose electricity, and electric batteries and accumulators that can operate for a very long time, compared to those available to us today.

I can't understand what things are supposed to be. I understand superconductivity (I understand... well done!) but super insulation? how is it possible? If you are matter then you have an outer electronic shell. You have an electron or electrons facing outward. If they are there they can be ionized. And if they come out of the sovereign territory of the material's core, then electricity has passed. How can electrons be completely prevented from moving into their environment? I understand that over what distance the electricity will not pass. But super insulated doesn't mean that the first layer is already the one that is completely insulated? It is puzzling to me the use of the phrase isolated on if this is not exactly the meaning of blocking the conduction.
