The Night of Scientists events at Tel Aviv University

On September 22, Tel Aviv University will hold dozens of lectures in the arts, exact sciences, natural sciences, society and spirit, theater performances and tours on the Scientists' Night 2011 in the presence of the Minister of Science Israel Hershkowitz and the Ambassador of the European Union Andrew Stanley

Scientists' Night 2012 at Tel Aviv University under the theme of computer science - 24/9/2012

On September 22, the "Night of the Scientists 2011" will be held on the campus of Tel Aviv University between the hours of 17:00 and 24:00. At the event, a variety of activities on different topics will be held throughout the campus. The event is held in the presence of the Minister of Science, Israel Hershkowitz and the Ambassador of the European Union, Andrew Stanley, and is held under the auspices of the European Union, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Chief Scientist at the Ministry of Science and Technology in cooperation with the Tel Aviv Municipality.

On Scientists' Night, the general public will be able to enjoy free of charge dozens of lectures, workshops, demonstrations, exhibitions, theater performances and film screenings, tours of the botanical garden and the zoological garden, and tours of laboratories throughout the campus.

This event is being held in Israel for the sixth year and for the second time at Tel Aviv University. The Night of the Scientists is partnered by countries from all over Europe. The goal of the project is to expose the general public to science in an experiential way and bring the community closer to the scientific field.

A wealth of lectures and events in diverse fields
This year, Tel Aviv University offers a very rich variety of lectures, workshops, events and activities in the fields of exact sciences, life sciences, social arts and the spiritual alongside activities and lectures in the English language.

How Einstein became a celebrity
Among the activities at the night of the scientists: lectures on diverse topics such as: the chemistry of love, how did Einstein become a celebrity? Lectures in the field of neuroscience and nanotechnology. Experimental demonstrations in physics and chemistry and more. This year there will be tours of five of the university's advanced laboratories such as the aerodynamics laboratory and the nano center laboratory.

A workshop for making compost will be held in the green campus complex and theater performances will be presented and acting workshops will be held in the arts complex. For chess lovers, blitz competitions will be held in the sports complex alongside workshops on proper nutrition, martial arts and yoga classes.
Among other things, the exhibitions: "Southern wind - views of the Negev in contemporary Israeli art" and the exhibition "Tel Aviv: City of the World" by graduates of the School of Architecture will be open to art lovers.

Egyptian beer according to an ancient recipe
For those interested in making homemade ice cream, there will be demonstrations in the unit complex for science-seeking youth, alongside a physical magic show, and for lovers of the bitter drop, the department of archeology is currently working on making Egyptian beer according to an ancient recipe.
For animal and botany enthusiasts, the zoological garden and the botanical garden will be open and Teva campus guides will guide the public through the roots, the tropical greenhouse and rare animals. And all these alongside many other activities.

The Vice President for Research and Development at Tel Aviv University, Prof. Ehud Gazit stated that: "Scientists' Night is an important pillar in the university's relationship with Israeli society and in the exposure it allows for scientific research. The State of Israel is a scientific powerhouse and we are happy to share the knowledge and progress with many and diverse audiences, including those who are usually far from the academic existence.
