The Yuval Na'eman workshop for science, technology and security will host senior officials at NASA

The event will take place on Sunday, January 30, between the hours of 15:00 and 18:00, Bar Shira Auditorium, Tel Aviv University

Space IL Group will officially announce its participation in the Google Lunar X Prize competition. On a study day that will hold a Yuval Na'eman workshop for science, technology and security at Tel Aviv University in collaboration with the Fisher Institute, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ramon Foundation, this coming Sunday. It is a global competition with prizes worth 30 million dollars whose goal is to launch, land and drive an unmanned vehicle on the moon, and transmit the images and videos back to Earth. About 20 groups from all over the world participate in the competition, and Space IL, which has over 30 experts in various fields such as: space, satellites, business development and education, is the only Israeli group.

Tel Aviv University is one of the many bodies supporting and promoting this project. Prof. Ehud Gazit, the vice president for research and development, at Tel Aviv University said that "the university attaches great importance to a project that promotes education and strives for excellence, will advance Israel's technological capacity and place it at the forefront of global research in the field of space sciences." Prof. Yitzhak Ben Israel, head of the Yuval Na'eman workshop for science, technology and security, who serves as the chairman of the Israel Space Agency, noted that "the initiative of the Space IL group is the first swallow in the revolution that will take place in the field of space in the State of Israel following the recent approval of the space program by the government."

The discussion day will be attended by, among others: Laurie Garber, the deputy head of NASA; Colonel Timothy J. Kramer, NASA Astronaut; Dr. David Southwood, Director of Scientific and Robotic Research at the European Space Agency; Prof. Hagi Netzer, from Tel Aviv University and Prof. Haim Ashad, head of the Space Directorate at the Ministry of Defense.
