A new record in global heat measurements was recorded in June, breaking the record of May 2014

June is the 38th month in a row and the 352nd month in a row in which a temperature exceeding the average temperature in the 20th century was recorded.

The Earth seems to be mocking the global warming deniers. According to the scientists of the US Oceanographic and Atmospheric Agency (NOAA), the average temperature over land and oceans in June 2014 was the highest for the month of June since records began in 1880.

This figure marks the 38th consecutive June and the 352nd consecutive month in which a temperature exceeding the 20th century average was recorded. The last time a temperature lower than the 20th century average was recorded in June was in 1976, and in some month - February 1985.

Most parts of the world experienced higher-than-average temperatures, with the peak being in southwestern parts of Greenland, part of northern South America, areas in eastern and western Africa, and parts of southern and southeastern Asia. Similar to May, which also held the record for the month of May since forever, records were recorded in heat measurements in scattered areas in all ocean basins, and in particular large parts of the western and northwestern shores of the Pacific Ocean and most of the Indian Ocean. A few areas of North America, the far east of Russia and small parts of central and northeastern Europe were cold or much colder than average.

Unusual climate events in June 2014

The average global temperature across all continents and seas in June was 16.22 degrees Celsius, 0.72 degrees above the 20th century average. This broke the previous record set in 2010 by 0.03 degrees. Nine of the ten warmest Junes have all been recorded during the 21st century, including each of the last five years. The error range of these calculations is plus or minus 0.09 degrees.

New Zealand has known the hot month of June since measurements began in 1909, high temperatures were recorded from the north of the North Island to the south of the South Island. In France, it was the fifth warmest June in 115 years of data, with 1.3 degrees above the 1981-2010 average. A week-long heat wave contributed to the warming of the month.

A station in southwest Greenland has also recorded records since measurements began there in 1958.

As for the oceans, the sea surface temperature was 0.64 degrees above the 20th century average (which stands at 16.4 degrees), and also for this area, which covers two thirds of the Earth's surface, it was the hottest June in history. This broke the record of 1998.
Although no El Niño or La Niña conditions occurred in the central and western Pacific during June 2914 this month, NOAA climate forecasters predict a 70% chance of El Niño conditions developing in the northern summer and an 80% chance of conditions occurring in the fall and winter.

El Nino - is 2014 going to be the new 1997?

  1. The temperature in June in the oceans was the highest in history in general (since 1880), and not just in any June.

The answer to the question of whether 2014 will break the temperature record recorded in 2010 will of course only be given in six months, but in the meantime it is clear that the first half of 2014 is relatively warm, and is in third place after the first half of 2010 (in first place), and 1998 (in second place) ).

But of course one swallow does not herald the coming of spring, and to know if the warming has resumed, we will probably have to wait a few more years. (Unless the following months will be much warmer than the last month, then we can state with certainty that warming has resumed).

Everything depends on the data, and not on the interpretations given on this or that website.

  2. Bird - I'm not debating a propaganda site, even in its title (if you can't explain the stop, you can't explain the source) it says that it starts from the assumption that there is a stop in the warming, since it's not true, there's no point in reading the articles on this site.

You should add... Therefore, our impact on the environment is still restrained, yet the climate is warming.

  4. In any debate that arises here, you should remember to know and take into account that:
The most significant cycle that affects the climate / temperatures
    She is the Milankiewicz cycle,
according to which our sphere is supposed to cool down...
To the point of entering an ice age...

  5. to Nostradamus
Cyclical activity exists but the consistency of burning fuels
Permanent fossils. The 85 million barrels of oil that are burned
Every day that miracles pointed to (+ shale oil and coal..)
They explain well the constant increase in temperature
Over the years, even if occasionally sulfur dioxide
Emitted from a volcano lowers the temperature
    in one measure or another.

  6. Even if the CO2 rises because of humans and causes some warming, most of the warming is natural because of the cycles and the reasons I mentioned and other natural causes.

  7. Some scientists say that CO2 is rising because of natural warming (and not the other way around). As in the past there was warming and an increase in CO2 without humans, that is, nature has cycles and so does the sun and warming is natural. And even most of history was warm and now the cold period, which returns back to its natural and warm (relatively) state. Also there is now a reversal of the Earth's magnetic poles, which weakens the Earth's magnetic protection from solar and space radiation, and therefore warming.

We know very well how much PADH we emit. You will start from 85 million barrels of oil per day….

  9. Miracles, just for the sake of accuracy, also your sentence "The enormous emission of PADH by man will inevitably lead to the absorption of solar energy by the atmosphere." To argue otherwise - you have to show that the laws of physics we know are wrong."
    He is wrong.

You have to define what "tremendous emission" is and also prove that the person actually emits the same amount.
Not that I'm claiming that there isn't a huge emission, I assume there is, I don't know (and don't know how to quantify it either, I don't think anyone knows how to quantify it), but if 90% of the scientists who understand more than me say that the warming is man-made, then apparently they are right

  10. Scary. Usually changes in equilibrium systems occur in a two-step-forward-one-step-back fashion. Only systems that are forced strongly enough so that the change occurs at an increasing rate (the system moves away from equilibrium at an acceleration rather than a constant speed) show a continuous trend without steps back. That is, the (climatic) system accelerates away from the equilibrium that existed before in a strong way. Could it be that the pessimistic forecasts were based on linear extrapolation as humans are wrong to think every time they want to extrapolate, thus they actually draw zero developments in relation to what is really happening and will happen?

  11. to Nostradamus

In the past there were many things including at least 5 mass exterminations in them
Extinct over 50% (up to approximately 90% in the Perm/Triassic extinction)
    of the species on earth.

You are sure that you want to do actions that can have an impact
Doubts about the future of the human race relying on the fact that "life survived"?

  12. Nostradamus
I hope you see for yourself that there is no connection between your two sentences.

Of course, this is not proof - the proof is that according to the laws of physics, the massive emission of PAD by man will inevitably lead to the absorption of solar energy by the atmosphere. To argue otherwise - you have to show that the laws of physics we know are wrong.

What is in this article is another confirmation of the laws of physics. We have countless confirmations for warming. So here's another one.

In the past, there was a lot more PADH - but the nature is fundamentally different. In particular - there were not hundreds of millions of people living on coastlines in the world.

  13. This is not proof that the warming is man-made. In the past there were much higher levels of CO2 and still the world and life survived.
