The Buckley Prize, the most prestigious prize in the field of condensed matter physics, was awarded to Professor Dov Levin from the Physics Faculty at the Technion. This is the first time that the prize is awarded to an Israeli researcher.

Professor Levin shares the award with Professor Paul Steinhart from Princeton University in the USA and Professor Alan McKay from Birkett College in England.

16 scientists who won the Buckley Prize went on to receive a Nobel Prize. The prize has been awarded annually since 1953 by the American Physical Society.

The award was given to the three winners this year for their "pioneering contributions to quasi-crystal theory, including the prediction of the scattering image".

Professor Levin works at the Technion in the physics of condensed matter and statistical mechanics of out-of-equilibrium systems - a field that deals with many-particle systems whose treatment is statistical.

  1. Congratulations!
One of the best lecturers, manages to convey the material with a lot of humor and personal charm...
