The Dizengoff Prize committee chose Prof. Dan Toufik from the Weizmann Institute and Prof. Uri Cheshnovsky from Tel Aviv University as the recipients of the Weizmann Prize for Exact Sciences for the year 2007.
The committee decided to award the prize to Prof. Uri Cheshnovsky for his groundbreaking experimental work on electronic properties and electronic dynamics of metallic aggregates, which inspired many researchers, and to Prof. Dan Tofik for his innovative work that led to a deeper understanding of the structure and action of enzymes and their creation processes in nature and on the development of methods for creating new enzymes from known enzymes in evolution-like processes;
The members of the committee were: Prof. Yigal Ptolemy, Prof. Natan Sharon and Prof. Yossi Klifter - all of them past winners of the award.

The prizes in the amount of 18,000 NIS (each) will be awarded to the winners by the mayor of the municipality, Ron Huldai in a festive ceremony to be held by the municipality on June 14, 2007, in the Enav center.
The Municipality of Tel Aviv-Yafo has been awarding the Dr. Chaim Weizman Award since 1943, to mark the 70th anniversary of his birth. The purpose of the award is to encourage and energize the Hebrew researchers in these sciences, and especially the researchers who live and work in the Land of Israel.
