  1. Avi,
The academy went through very difficult years and it has not yet recovered from the difficult years.
And because of the very difficult years that passed the academy here in Israel, two things happened, on the one hand, doctors left the country and went to look for jobs in the USA, and on the other hand, students are not going to study science (physics, chemistry, mathematics) because they know that it is impossible here in Israel to engage in basic research . Pay attention to the list. Students often go to study economics, law, psychology - these are fields that lead to a profession and money. These are not fields that lead to basic research as a vocation in life. And the fact that students do not turn to fields that lead to basic research (including fields in the humanities) is evidence of the collapse of higher education. And they talked about it recently following Dan Shechtman winning the Nobel Prize.
That's why I wrote that I find it hard to believe that Tel Aviv University will recruit 60 research faculty members.

  2. If I'm not mistaken, and I'm not, Bar Ilan already has a brain research school.
Someone is twisting facts a bit in this article.

  3. It really sounds like an advertisement when you write "the largest and most sought after research university in Israel".
There is a sentence in this announcement, "this year they will admit about 60 outstanding new faculty members".
I have a hard time believing this sentence. I can't believe that Tel Aviv University took in 60 new faculty members.
If this were true then there would not be such a massive brain drain to the USA.
It is enough to look around the USA and see many names of Israelis in universities.
