Prof. Avi Leib: Searching for signs of extraterrestrial technology is science

Astronomer Avi Leib announces the Galileo project for a systematic scientific search for evidence of technological objects from outer space And not to dismiss out of hand an explanation for unsolved phenomena, whether these are alleged UFOs revealed by the American government or aliens with strange behavior such as Omuamoa

Astronomer Dr. Avi Leib from Harvard University announces the Galileo project for a systematic scientific search for evidence of technological objects from outer space on Earth and throughout the solar system. As I recall, Live is also a partner in the STARSHOT project, which seeks to send thousands of tiny spacecraft to the nearest solar system, Proxima Centauri, at about 20% of the speed of light, which means turning humanity into a body that will export technology to aliens.

According to him, the project will carry out a "systematic search for evidence that can be scientifically proven to originate from an extraterrestrial civilization, whether it exists today or is extinct.

"In 2017, an object appeared in the solar system whose behavior was strange, instead of slowing down in its approach to the sun, it accelerated. the origin of the bone, Omoamua His name is outside the solar system." Leib said at the press conference where the project was announced.

Prof. Leib claimed, in a minority position in the scientific community, that this may be an artificial object, perhaps a decommissioned alien spaceship or another technological object outside the solar system.

recently The American government published a report About Unidentified Aerial Phenomena - based on multi-sensor photographs taken from American military aircraft, including from radar devices and which recorded objects whose behavior was strange. The authors of the report left some of the cases open and claimed that it is more likely that these are Chinese or perhaps Russian technologies.

"The discovery of extraterrestrials or their technological equipment will change our view of the world and its impact will be enormous." he adds. "Given the sheer abundance of planets in the habitable zones of their suns, life in the universe appears to be common." Live writer. He is aware of being an unusual voice in the scientific community, and claims that

"Potential extraterrestrial explanations should not be rejected because of social or cultural stigma. These are preferences that do not contribute to the scientific method of unbiased empirical investigation. Now we must 'dare to look through new telescopes,' both literally and figuratively."

The Galileo Project research group will aim to identify the nature of the unexplained aerial phenomena, as well as interstellar objects, using the standard scientific method based on transparent analysis of scientific data open to collection using optimized instruments.

"This is an observation project from the ground that will complement the traditional SETI by looking for physical objects, rather than electromagnetic signals associated with technological civilizations, and all this while basing itself on the laws of physics and not on observations or anecdotal reports." Prof. Leib explained.

Network observations on multiple devices

"This goal will be achieved by searching for unexplained aerial or space phenomena using a network of medium-sized telescopes with high resolution and with appropriate detector arrays, cameras and computer systems, which will be placed in selected locations. The data will be open to the public and the scientific analysis will be transparent. We foresee widespread use of artificial intelligence and deep learning (AI/DL) and algorithmic approaches that distinguish atmospheric phenomena from birds, balloons, commercial or private drones and potential technological objects of terrestrial or other origin orbiting our planet, such as satellites. For high contrast imaging, each telescope will be part of a detector array of orthogonal and complementary capabilities of radar, Doppler radar and high resolution synthetic radar up to the field of view of a large camera and infrared telescopes. And so if such an object is discovered, we can track it with a variety of multi-wavelength instruments with good performance.

"The research group will also take advantage of existing and future astronomical surveys at the VRO observatory to discover and monitor the characteristics of interstellar visitors to the Solar System."

"We are willing to cooperate with space agencies or space ventures, NASA's asteroid interception mission using ground-based survey telescopes to detect interstellar visitors."

In conclusion, Leib says: "Extraterrestrial technology may have a similar impact on astronomy and our worldview as Galileo's pioneering use of telescopes for astronomical observations. Galileo's improved design of an optical telescope allowed him to discover the four largest moons of Jupiter in 1609-1610. These Galilean moons were the first moons found orbiting a planet other than Earth. Galileo also discovered the rings of Saturn in 1610 and thus proved the Copernicus theory that the sun is at the center (then thought the universe) and the earth is another planet.

Ockham's razor will win when we prove the existence of extraterrestrial technology

Referring to the counter reactions he received from the scientific community Leib answered the question of the science site: "If we don't look for data on unusual reports, we won't discover anything new. The scientists who raise O'Ham's razor as a reason not to collect new evidence are similar to a caveman who treats a cell phone he saw in the field as a well-polished stone. But I'm optimistic. If we take this special stone and press it with our finger we can show the caveman that it is capable of photographing him or recording his voices. In the same way, if the Galileo project obtains a high-resolution image of a technological object that did not originate on Earth, even the skeptics will say that Ockham's Razor points to an artificial object from another culture.”

By the way, the origin of the name Galileo is from the term "Galil" whose second meaning (in addition to the area in northern Israel) is a cylinder.

Editor's note: There is no objection to watching all frequencies. Many unexpected objects and astronomical phenomena were discovered in such surveys even if their purpose was different. In general, much of the astronomical research is based on big data analysis of the findings of these surveys. So far no evidence of the existence of aliens or at least their technology has been found. If unequivocal evidence is found, this will indeed change human perception, at least like the corona. The burden of proof is on those who challenge the scientific establishment, such as Professor Leib.

  1. In my humble, weak and feeble opinion - there is no other intelligence outside the earth.
Yes, I am aware that there are quite a few stars, etc. It's still not enough.
The sequence of events necessary to bring life to reason is so close to zero, you could say it is zero.
I guess it takes many, many billions of billions of universes to get another planet that has intelligence.
(I am aware that I am in opposition to this matter).
However, everything I said does not rule out aliens.
Instead of looking for them somewhere for the milk - you can try and find them here.
What I think is: that with the beginning of the universe, different dimensions also existed and it is more likely to assume that the intelligence we are looking for is simply here - but we don't have the tools to see them.
As time passes, we too will know how to surf from one dimension to another and the exciting encounters will remain somewhere. Maybe in Jerusalem...
(Note: it is possible that we have already taken the first step and that is through quantum computing. This computer knows how to do quite a lot of calculations and there is a [albeit slight] probability that some or all of the calculations are not done at all in our dimension)
(Additional note: I'm just someone trying to come up with logical solutions. I don't have a degree or anything like that. If I work day and night maybe, someday I'll define myself as a hobbyist....)
(Last note: despite the previous note, I can prove by way of probability that we are indeed definitely alone in this universe. I won't do it right now - but maybe, someday I will publish my non-academic nonsense. Maybe there is something to it after all)

  2. My father, Avraham Leib is one of ours.
He is a graduate of "Talfiot", a member of Moshav Beit Hanan.

  3. A great idea on another is funded by a private entity.
The public space projects must be closed

  4. In the 70s it was published in the journal Mada (published on behalf of the Weizmann Institute. This journal is no longer published). An article on astroarchaeology. The intention is to use satellites to monitor and discover archaeological sites here on Earth. There is no reason not to use this technology to find similar findings on planets and moons here in the solar system. What can with this approach is the spacecraft cameras launched to these targets. For example, the MRO Mars Orbit cameras whose resolution is 25 cm per pixel. Especially the cameras of the off-road vehicles that operate on the Martian soil. It should also not be forgotten that cameras of intelligence satellites actually do a similar action. I remember when a number of photographs from Iraq were published, taken by Ofek 1, the first Israeli spy satellite, they identified on the ground, roads, cranes and cars. So please no excuses and no baseless explanations that supposedly this is not possible. When these photos were published no one claimed it was a hoax. The same during the Cuban Missile Crisis. The U2 planes reaching an altitude of 20 km detected missile silos capable of carrying nuclear bombs in Cuba.

  5. The professor, like most of his colleagues, has his eyes on fat budgets following his announcement, and it doesn't matter to him if there are extraterrestrials or not... because if he understood anything, he would know that the chances are absolutely zero! If "they" have not been found to this day and they have not found us, then "they" do not exist, or they do exist but at a distance of thousands of light years. So who cares? Only those who can "milk" large research budgets...

  6. Avi Leib is a smart guy,
Knows what the public wants and knows how to attract attention and budgets.
True, he won't find aliens, but - he will probably publish articles, promote research, and provoke discussions. Let's hope it will be for the better.
