From the Ariel campus - to judge an international robotics competition

Yossi Hazan, a robotics lecturer in the electronics engineering and software engineering departments at the Ariel Design and Technology Center in Samaria, will participate as a judge in an international robotics competition that will take place in the summer of 2012 in Mexico. The annual RoboCup Junior international competition takes place every year in a different place in the world, and is intended for young teams from around the world.

In April 2011, two teams led by Yossi Hazan won first and second place in the national RoboCup competition, and were chosen from 28 teams from around the country to represent Israel in the RoboCup Junior World competition. The students won the prestigious awards for their creative thinking, and for their desire to contribute to saving the lives of people caught up in crises and hardships originating from natural disasters, through the creation of the life-saving robot Armstrong.

Following the repeated success and achievements of groups that Yossi led over the years, while learning and collaborating with companies in the fields of technology, he was invited to serve as a judge in the international RoboCup competition that will be held in Mexico in the summer of 2012. Yossi was chosen to be one of the six international judges from around the world, who will make up the committee in the field of rescue. "I welcome the wonderful opportunity that has fallen to me", he says with great satisfaction and adds that "I hope that I will be given the opportunity to influence and set rules and regulations that will allow more teams from Israel to reach the international competition".

Eng. Michael Shafransky, head of the electronics engineering department at the Center for Design and Technology compliments: "Yossi is an outstanding lecturer, who teaches microcomputers, conducts robotics workshops and supervises final projects. His projects excel in innovation and complexity in recent years, he won several times the first places in national competitions and represented the State of Israel in the international arena. He is definitely a figure worthy of judgment, and I am happy that he has received such recognition, and happy for the privilege to benefit from his professional abilities for our students."
