Many surfers use the convenient translation services that Google recently launched in its search engine. The Google Translate service provides the possibility to translate full texts as well as full pages of websites. A particularly spicy glitch of this kind, illustrates the sensitivity of the translation and raises the questions how accurate is the proposed translation and what exactly is the database on which the translation relies on?
This is especially embarrassing when the editor of a website abroad that collaborates with the science website, Universe Today, discovers this when she went in to read an important piece of news that was published yesterday.

I probably applied and they haven't taken care of it yet, I just found out the other night, but I couldn't wait. After consulting with lawyers, I realized that I must make such a clarification in case someone comes forward with claims of impersonation or alleged copyright infringement.
For anyone who wants to help fix it quickly: when you enter a translated article and stand over a text, you get a "balloon" with the original text and a link that says "offer a better translation". Just enter any article by Avi Blizovsky and instead of BBC enter Hayadan and you will see how Google Translate will "learn" even without going to Google, as I suggested before.
You can turn to Google. They fix things like that.
This is a compliment to the BBC!

There is an even nicer section on machine translations. There is a website somewhere that allows you to translate a sentence in five languages, one after the other and finally back to the original language. A rather different sentence is obtained. A broken phone in the internet age.

Or words that have already been translated, you can suggest a better translation.
In any case, it is not accurate only from this point of view, the more Israelis use and improve the results, the better the translation will be.
