An unexpected source of gamma rays has been discovered in space

Astrophysicists using a radio telescope in Spain discovered a source of high-energy gamma rays in the region of distant galaxies that cannot be explained with today's knowledge of gamma ray sources

An international team of astrophysicists, involving several groups of scientists in Spain, discovered a source of high-energy gamma rays in the region of the distant galaxies 3C 66A and 3C 66B.

This new gamma emission, observed by the Magic Telescope, in La Palma (Canary Islands) does not match what the scientists expected, and as a result three hypotheses have been put forward to explain it.

In 2007, the Magic telescope, located at the Rocco de los Muchachos Observatory in La Palma, spent more than 50 hours observing the galaxy region 3C 66A, which is about 3 billion light-years from the Earth. The results of the observation led to the discovery of a very high energy gamma ray source (more than 150 billion electron volts), as published in The Astrophysical Journal Letters.

The researcher, Arando Manel, from the Institute of High Energy Physics in Barcelona, explained that very high energy gamma rays "are a type of light with extremely high energy, something that rarely occurs in nature." Such cases are usually associated with violent phenomena such as supernova explosions or high-energy particle jets that form around black holes.

Regarding the data collected by the Magic telescope, Arnaud notes that both the location and the characteristics of the gamma ray emission do not match what they expected to see in a galaxy like 3C 66A. This is a quasar galaxy that emits jets of particles exactly in the direction of the Earth.

Scientists offer three hypotheses to explain the unexpected origin of the emission.

The first possibility is that the emission is actually made from the quasar 3C 66A, and its active core has different characteristics than what was attributed to it until now, or that the galaxy is closer than thought.

Another option, which is supported by information concerning the energy spectrum that came from Magic, is that the source of the gamma rays comes from another distant galaxy, 3C 66B, which is about 3 million light-years from the Earth. "This galaxy is similar to 3C 66A, but its particle jets do not point directly towards us," Arando points out.

"This confirms that galaxy 3C 66B is the source. It will be only the second radio galaxy observed to date (the first being M87) that emits very high energy gamma rays, thus defining a new class of galaxies that are the source of high energy gamma rays." Says Maria Victoria Fonseca, another member of the team of researchers from the High Energy Research Group at the University of Coplotnes in Madrid.

The third hypothesis is that the celestial gamma rays were not created in 3C 66A or 3C 66B but from an unknown source that has not yet been located, not even by the stargazers who analyze the sky at low energies.

Over the next few years, scientists will continue to explore this region of space, which is observed by many telescopes besides MAGIC, to find the real explanation.

  1. people:
I discovered that you can install solar panels in an open area and the electricity company (yes) will know who to pay.
I still haven't understood who they ask for permits from, who they buy the land from and how much the taxes for the aforementioned land cost (if there are any taxes for the land and not just the buildings, are there?)

  2. People who responded to what I wrote:
Well people, I started to find out about buying solar panels to install in the south on an open area (not on a roof).
I tried to check prices for the area close to Eilat on the state's gov.il website, but I couldn't find it anywhere.

Just updating those who have shown interest.

  3. Birch
Your idea is correct and beautiful. There are several companies that have received such a concession from the government to supply green electricity to the grid in the southern territories and have already installed a pilot supplier in Bataba and another kibbutz in Arava. The plan is to use large areas for this purpose and the project is in collaboration with the government.
You may also be given a franchise if you hurry and prove financial and technological ability.

  4. Livna, I probably didn't explain myself correctly, I don't have a million dollars, I just threw out a number that had nothing to do with the findings when I was trying to guess how much money a Kaza project would cost...

Look, the truth is that you can ignore this number, I just wanted you to see that these are very big risks, as I am, don't "go for it" before you clarify "all" the details, in every possible way...
For example, here is a site that lets companies send business offers by categories for free!
    Add these categories:
Green energy, solar energy, environmental quality

And write your message in English, write that you are interested in buying 15 wind turbines
Then you will create another referral with a request for solar panels...
    the site: http://www.ib2b.co.il/
    direct link: http://www.ib2b.co.il/postalead.aspx

This is just one site that will help you withdraw contacts from company owners, there are many more
And you still have a lot to do, this is just a small task that I don't trust will help you...
Go find out all the possibilities we have given you here, dig deep into them

Everyone here wants to help, but doesn't always succeed... Your goal is to check all the possibilities and choose the best one...

  5. I didn't notice he was talking about a non-profit.

In any case, there are some associations that contribute to projects for the sake of the environment, such as the Shali Foundation, but on a tiny scale compared to the grant that is needed in such a project.

  6. Friends:
If you are talking about the chief scientist of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry then this is exactly what he does not usually invest in.
The Chief Scientist at the TMT Ministry invests in opening profitable businesses and not non-profit initiatives.
The intention behind the activity of the Chief Scientist in the Ministry of the TMT is to create jobs.
Incubators and venture capital funds also do not deal with non-profits.
I'm not saying it's good - I'm just saying it's the way it is.

  7. Besides the chief scientist, there are other ways to raise funds for ventures: incubators, funds, loans and private investors. But it is worth remembering that we are in a very difficult period economically and the flood of investment in ventures has been stopped.

However, precisely because the government wants to get us out of this situation, it may support new small to medium businesses.
And the treasury also provides a comfortable ground for taking loans with ridiculous interest rates.

But you never know what a day will bring forth.

  8. Grace:
What do you mean, what are receipts? Did you mean money for a certain investment?
And who is the chief scientist?
    Detail, explain and give examples

  9. Livna, there are receipts from the chief scientist that give you very respectable sums (hundreds of thousands of NIS) to invest in a green idea/product/business. All you need is a description of the idea, and a business plan. There are also some forms to fill out, and then wait a few months .
If you are approved for the grant, it will be given to you after you present an invoice. Then you get 85% of the invoice amount. God
The point is that you can receive an invoice from suppliers after you have closed a deal and even before you have paid...
By the way, if you build turbines in mountainous places, where the land is certainly cheaper and there is more wind, you can place motorized solar panels according to the direction of the sun on the area where the turbines are located. This way you will get more space for solar panels at a cheaper price.

  10. Thanks for the encouragement folks, I think you convinced me to go for it.

Skeptic: You didn't answer me, are you really rich? do you have a million dollars Or did you laugh?

  11. Birch:
I really didn't understand that you wanted to start something non-profit.
You are welcome to try but know that there are those who are already working on it with profit motive.
I guess a lot of people would prefer to invest the money in a way that they will also profit from it, but I hope with all my heart that you will succeed.
If it succeeds - in the end it will also make a profit because they will not continue to expand it ad infinitum.

  12. Birch,
Age doesn't matter here, nowadays in the virtual world, all you need is internet, intelligence, a lot of willpower and perseverance and also a little harmless pepper...

Try to find out all the details yourself, without hiding your age (just so you don't make a bad impression) find out who the influential people are and send them emails, try to word your messages as formally as possible (unlike the comments on the website, you really sound a bit young) that way they won't recognize Your age (maybe you will sound like a bloated nad but there are many such adults in our world so it should not raise suspicion)
And at first just research for information, you don't need money for that...

Two years ago, during my time in the army, I did an experiment, how far I could go with loud and silly words (I purposely do not tell the details, I am still afraid that I will be found out and sued), I got very, very far (at least in my opinion)... I ended up exchanging emails with People are very, very influential just because they thought I was something I'm not...
For some reason, I enjoyed it, I had too big an ego, I was too influenced by the wonderful book "Ender" and especially a bored and stupid boy...
And the funny thing is that if I wasn't dyslexic and had so many spelling errors, I would actually reach the amounts that reporters would only dream of reaching...

And why am I writing you all this you ask? Also to pat myself on the ego, also to scold myself for how stupid I was and above all so that you understand that you can withdraw any information you want, all you need is creativity, know how to write properly and lie quite a bit...

    Successfully…

  13. skeptic:
    applicable writers.

I would do it, really, but I'm too young, I don't have the tools and I won't be able to get them either. And... are you serious about the million dollars? Do you have that amount? Because... with such an amount you can already organize such an association yourself, or pay someone to do it for you.

  14. Birch, nice idea! It also doesn't look good to me (or how Rosich uses that word) if you don't have the necessary starting amount (I wanted to throw around a million dollars but I have nothing to base it on except intuition).
But wait, hey, why do you even need all this debate and all our opinions? If you believe in your idea, go talk things out, start pushing yourself to all kinds of places to find out how much it costs to buy land in the Negev, how much solar panels cost, how much turbines cost, how much electricity each one produces and how much the government and/or the electric company are willing to help you with this (in any This is green energy...).
Only then can you post a message here with all the above data, and we will look carefully and be happy to share our opinion with you!

    rise and succeed!

  15. Michael:
    you did not understand
When you donate, you will not receive a percentage, the money will go to paying insurance, taxes and buying more and more solar panels and areas where they will be installed. The point is that no one benefits (except the environment), you contribute a little and you know that from the little you donated more and more solar panels will be installed.

  16. Birch:
Without money nothing can be done.
If you want to build an association that will raise money from others then you have no chance because the others will not invest in you making money.
The "association" you are talking about is actually a cooperative where all the partners invest and share the profits.
A cooperative is something that, with the exception of the special distribution of costs and profits, is very similar to a company, and companies that rent parts of the desert and establish solar farms on it were also mentioned, if I'm not mistaken, on the Hedaan website.
In general, I don't think this is a good solution for those who don't have money because unlike the situation where you install solar panels on the roof of your house - here you have to finance - not only the purchase of the panels but also the purchase of the area.
If you don't have the money to install a large area of panels on the roof of your house - install a small area - it is sure more profitable than buying a percentage in an association that buys both land area and panels.

  17. Sasson
The idea is that instead of help from the state, which, as you wrote, we probably won't get, there will be an independent association, not on behalf of the state.

  18. And we will discover many more phenomena.
We polished our eyes to the sky (perhaps a long time, but I'm talking with the help of appropriate lenses...) not so long, there may be phenomena that happen only once in millions of years in the right place at the right time due to these or other coincidences that we have not yet thought about theoretically but they may be very interesting (One that we did think about but it is very rare is hallmarks of some kind of civilization 🙂

  19. Michael
I know about the law, I wrote: "the money the association will earn per month", I meant the money the electric company will pay it.
And... I meant they thought about me because of the time I wrote the article, 19:19, I don't really think it's real, but it's nice to believe in such things.

You wrote to me to simply install solar panels on the roof of my house, but that's exactly why I thought of an association, some people don't have enough money for their own solar panels but they still want to contribute to the environment, the solution of an association is exactly for that, not to invest too much money but Still knowing that I helped the environment.

And by the way, you are already the third person to write to me that they had already thought about it before, but I have not heard of any such association, so if you know of one, please let me know.

    Thanks

  20. You will hear all the nonsense about an association and support from the state
The installation costs a lot of money for an uncertain return (the profit will come in something like 20 years)
The state will not support because it needs a long-term investment and long-term investment is not in the lexicon of the State of Israel

  21. Birch:
I didn't respond because, as you said, it was already thought of.
In fact, something much more applicable on a private level is to simply install panels on the roof of your house.
The state wants to encourage this trend and to that end it enacted a law according to which the electricity company is obliged to buy the electricity it produces at a price roughly four times higher than the price at which it sells you electricity.

  22. point
    What are you talking about?
What does that have to do with what I said?
Are you sure you meant to write this to me?

  23. Yael Petar
    Have you talked to me?
    I'm a man, not a woman

Regarding what you wrote, I don't want the electricity produced to do anything specific, I just plan for it to flow into the national Shemel network and reduce the amounts of carbon dioxide that are released from the power stations in Israel.

Why is everyone reacting with such resolute negativity? My idea is good, and if not, then it is possible instead of solar, wind energy - turbines. Just yesterday I saw an article on FOX NEWS about turbines in the United States on behalf of the American government. It seems like a good solution if you are not in favor of solar.

By the way, you work on the website as a reporter, don't you? You wrote the article, didn't you? Why doesn't your name appear in blue like the other writers?

  24. The problem with photovoltaic panels is that their efficiency is about 15%-20% at best, in other words, most of the energy is not converted into electricity there but is simply wasted.

If you want, for example, to get the power of an average car engine, you need to spread solar cells over 300 square meters.

There are other problems with photovoltaic cells that arise, for example, from the position of the sun in the sky (at what angle, whether it is at the zenith most of the year or not and how many hours a day there is strong sun), and atmospheric conditions that may block the sun's rays and lower the efficiency even more.

  25. Tell me people, if we are already in a solar atmosphere, I had an interesting idea not long ago.
    "Association for Solar Panels"
Oh, what do you say? The association will collect funds, like any association, and with the money it will buy solar panels/photovoltaic cells (whatever you want to call it) in the south (really south, close to Eilat). Over time, the association will have a lot of space with solar panels, and thanks to that, a lot of money. With the money, the association will simply buy more and more solar panels until it is already really big and earns a lot of money per month (from the electricity it produces), at this point it will move to a larger scale and abroad.
In the desert of Noida it is possible.

    Oh?
    Looks good doesn't it?
I don't think there are any special problems. The media is also sure to deal with it, at least a little, maybe some line written in a flash.

  26. point,
A "spot" black hole moving only towards you maybe 🙂
Let's leave different physical problems where this relates to the theory you brought, the simple fact is that the intensity of the measured radiation does not increase, it is simply high. Lucky I know you're kidding 🙂

  27. Very, very interesting…
If someone can explain a little more (preferably a lot) about gamma rays, then, um ah, I'll say he's a nice guy (in whatever way he wants)… a link to a very reliable source of information would also help me…
