The Technion established the largest computer engineering center in Israel

700 scientists and heads of industry from Israel and abroad will inaugurate the center at a scientific conference in early June

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and the Faculty of Computer Science at the Technion teamed up with the leading companies in Israel and the world and established the largest computer engineering center in Israel. The president of the Technion, Professor Peretz Lavi, said that the center will cooperate with industry in Israel and abroad, promote the field of computer engineering in academia and industry in Israel, bring back to Israel researchers and scientists in this field, bring leading experts from abroad as guest lecturers and attract outstanding students to continue their studies for graduate degrees .
The Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Professor Adam Shortz, and the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science, Professor Eli Biham, said that this will be a leading research center in software, hardware and intermediate fields, including cloud computing, computer networks and image sciences (image processing and computer vision).
The center will be inaugurated at a large scientific conference, with the participation of 700 scientists and heads of industry from Israel and abroad. Among the scientists who will participate and speak at the conference - Professors Mark Horowitz (Dean of Electrical Engineering - Stanford), Yale Pat and Guri Sohi - award-winning scientists who lead the field of computer architecture in the world, Prof. Matteo Valero, who made Barcelona a world center for computer architecture, Prof. Mark Schnir Wen-Tsei Wu, one of the leaders in the field of high-performance computing, Professor Guillermo Shapiro, who thanks to his and his friends' development brought images from Mars to Earth and Professor Stephan Mellet from Ecole Polytechnique (the so-called "father of modern signal processing"). From the industry will participate, among others - Dedi Perlmutter, Senior Vice President and Director of the Architecture Group at Intel Global Company, Justin Ratner, Director of Research at Intel, Pat Gelsinger, President of EMC Company, the heads of the research centers in Israel of all the leading companies including Microsoft, Google, Amdocs, Cisco, Checkpoint, Rafael, Elbit Systems, SAP, HP and Qualcomm.
