Tel Aviv University published statements today in memory of the pilot Erez Flexer, a student in the Department of Physics at Tel Aviv University who died last night in the military helicopter accident as part of training during reserve service Last night near Kibbutz Rabadi

"Erez Flexer completed his undergraduate studies in the combined physics-geophysics track at Tel Aviv University. He graduated with honors and was included in the dean's list of honorees. At the end of his bachelor's degree studies, he began studying for his master's degree.

"Already at the end of the first year of the bachelor's degree, he joined the research laboratory in the physics department and grew thin layers of Cupertian superconductors - special materials that can carry an electric current without resistance even at the temperature of liquid nitrogen. He made a significant contribution to the paper on the possibility of controlling the transition temperature by attaching organic molecules to the surface and illuminating them with different types of light.
At the end of the third academic year as part of the outstanding project and after that he led a study on the magnetic properties of beams in a separating surface between two non-magnetic insulators. Following his research, Erez even published an article (in which he is the first author!!! in Physical Review B- Rapid Communications. This is a very, very rare and unusual achievement for a student at the beginning of his research career)."

"In 2011, he received a commemorative scholarship due to his achievements in studies (the commemorative scholarships are awarded to outstanding students near Memorial Day. Each scholarship is named after one of the faculty members. The scholarship Erez received is named after the late Yosef Kliger, who did not have time to fulfill his acceptance to study mathematics at the faculty, Due to the reserve service he was called to. He fell in the Yom Kippur war, and he was 24 years old when he died.
Erez was a versatile researcher, he delved into the physical problems and complicated theories but also had a technical sense, inventiveness and improvisation. It was true that he had a bright future as a scientist. "

"Despite his extraordinary achievements, Erez always radiated quietness and modesty that combined with excellent efficiency and he was never proud of his achievements. Above all, Erez was always loved by all the members of the lab and helped everyone. May his memory be blessed." According to the university announcement
