The sixth science communication conference will be held next week at the Davidson Institute

בA gathering of guest lectures by Dr. James Gillis, who is the head of the Saran particle accelerator's massive communication system, who will talk about Saran's communication strategy, and answer difficult questions regarding the border between science communication and public relations; and of Prof. Bruce Levinstein, from Cornell University, one of the world's leading science communication researchers, who will talk about the ambivalent relationship between science teaching and science communication.

The sixth science communication conference in Israel, founded by the Israel National Academy of Sciences and the Technion, is being held this year in collaboration with the Davidson Institute, the educational arm of the Weizmann Institute of Science, June 25-24, 2015.

(The full program is attached)
at the gathering of guest lectures by Dr. James Gillis, who heads the enormous communication system of the Sarn particle accelerator, who will talk about Sarn's communication strategy, and answer difficult questions regarding the border between science communication and public relations; and of Prof. Bruce Levinstein, from Cornell University, one of the world's leading science communication researchers, who will talk about the ambivalent relationship between science teaching and science communication.

The morning sessions will deal with various aspects of basic science communication, and will concentrate on particle physics and what is happening in the core. In a sharp transition, a stormy panel will be dedicated to risk communication in the Israeli mass media, with an emphasis on the earthquakes in Nepal, the air quality in Haifa and the asteroid that threatened to destroy us not long ago.

A panel of senior public broadcasters in Israel will deal with the place of science in public broadcasting at this critical point in time when the Broadcasting Authority is looking for an identity and justification for its existence. The afternoon session will provide a platform for a fair of fascinating ventures in the field of science communication from all over the country.

The second day of the convention (June 25.6) will be dedicated to master classes for scientists and reporters that will be given by Dr. Gillis (who is largely responsible for the fact that the "divine particle" opened the news all over the world) and Prof. Levinstein (who has already taught science communication on every continent except Antarctica) . After the master classes, the research sessions will take place, with a variety of fascinating and up-to-date lectures by researchers in the field. These will include the first revelations of findings regarding the scientific knowledge of the Israeli public and the positions of Israeli scientists regarding their relations with the media and the public.
