Russia has plans to launch spacecraft to Mars, Venus and the asteroid Apophis

It's not a return to the heyday of the space age during the Soviet Union, but the Russians certainly have some interesting missions in store.

Mars
Russia's agonizing failure in launching the Phobos Grunt spacecraft towards Phobos, a moon of Mars, forced it to take a break to draw lessons, examine what happened and what to do in order not to get into another embarrassment, otherwise its credibility would be damaged. However, the break in the research of Mars did not stop. Research has taken on a new form. The exploration of Mars will be done in the framework of cooperation with the United States and the European Space Agency. The United States for its own reasons withdrew from this project and the international cooperation was done in a limited framework - Russia and Europe. The program that has begun to take shape includes launching two spacecraft to Mars in 2016 and 2018 and is called Exobiology. The intention is to investigate the methane source of Mars to land a wheeled all-terrain vehicle to collect soil samples and test them inside a laboratory located in the vehicle. The vehicle is also equipped with a drill capable of penetrating two meters below the ground.

The first spacecraft will be built by the European Space Agency, will have Russian instrumentation and will be launched using a Russian launcher. The launch date has not yet been set. In any case, it will be between January 7 and 27, 2016 and will reach it in October 2016. This spacecraft will enter orbit around Mars, monitor traces of gases in the atmosphere and the location of water ice on the ground. The equipment of the mekpet will be European. The dash will also have a small Russian-made lander. This lander is mainly intended for technological and engineering purposes, including testing techniques for entering the atmosphere, it will operate for two weeks and will also test the ground. The capsule will also serve as a relay station for the all-terrain vehicle that will land on Mars in 2018. This spacecraft will also be launched using a Russian launcher. It is estimated that this SUV will also be used for future plans.

Venus

The Russians are beginning to plan a new series of spacecraft designed to reach Venus. In the mid-XNUMXs, the spacecraft and its all-terrain vehicle will be launched. The Venera D spacecraft will land on the planet. Due to the great atmospheric pressures, the all-terrain vehicle will only be able to work for a few hours. Unlike the landings of the Venera spacecraft, this all-terrain vehicle will check the ground in several places. The spacecraft will also be equipped with small capsules that will enter the atmosphere and release balloons equipped with instruments to examine large areas of Venus.

asteroid

The Russians intend to launch a spacecraft towards the asteroid Apophis (Apophis), a tiny body with a diameter of 325 meters. Work on this program will begin in 2015. This asteroid belongs to the group of asteroids that pass near the Earth during their orbit around the Sun. There is a fear that they will be captured by gravity and hit the ground. It seems that this program is a continuation of the American NEAR spacecraft that was launched towards the asteroid Eros, entered orbit around it and landed on it.

In 2029, the distance of the Apophis asteroid from Earth will be 58,000 km. There is a fear that in 2037 Apophis will meet the Earth and damage it. The intention is to examine its trajectory.

  1. miracles miracles What will…. Arguing with you is like arguing with a religious, leftist or member of the global warming cult.

Do a Google search. Go to Wikipedia and read a bit about the types of jet engines and then explain to the whole world and its wife that they are wrong.

By the way, if you have the ability to think independently, I would suggest asking yourself what turns the turbine in engines that, in your failed understanding, are not jet engines. A clue in English is jet

Hahahahaha what a waste of my time

Almost... the translation of the word jet in Hebrew is a jet. The word turbine has no word in Hebrew (I don't translate at least). Think of a water jet.
Tell an American that his tank has a jet engine, he won't understand you. It has a turbine engine.
I agree that in everyday language the F-16 is said to have a jet engine, but this is not technically true, even though the jet provides about a third of the thrust.

  3. Miracles. You are confusing a turbo jet engine with a jet engine.
A turbojet is one type of jet engine.
The Hercules engine is a turboprop jet engine.
incidentally. The Abrams tank uses a jet engine.

  4. Avner
According to your claim, a Hercules engine is also a jet engine.

A jet engine is an engine whose thrust is generated by the flow of hot air from the combustion chambers. A turbofan engine uses a turbine to turn a fan that provides the thrust. You can replace the word fan with a propeller and you will get a Hercules engine.

When you correct, don't be surprised to be corrected. Take it in good spirit 🙂

  5. So typical of the discourse in Israel. (Not the essence, these are external matters). What is important which picture? The question is, can Russia really do it, or is it arrogance? I am interested in whether Israel can minimize, lower costs, and cooperate to reach similar achievements?

  6. Miracles in your eagerness to correct and show your wisdom you have failed yourself. It is definitely a jet engine and under the definition of a jet engine are several types.
If you ask nicely I can give you an overview of the types and the differences between them.
You can also receive as a bonus a code for Commodore 64 for the global warming simulation based on the increase in carbon dioxide

  7. To all the commenters, I followed the description of the photo on the site from which it was taken. Unfortunately I was not connected to the internet for several hours so even though Chaim called at an early hour I could not do anything. I just changed a picture that is not related to Russia but to one of the destinations.

  8. It seems to me that a journey to Mars requires the unification of countries, and a change of concept. Using a rocket engine, turning it off, using the slingshot effect from the moon, and carrying the fuel required for the trip - are not suitable for a trip to Mars. In my opinion, propulsion with a nuclear engine if possible, which produces a reasonable rocket effect. The nuclear drive lasts about 13 years for a core the size of an orange. I do not have enough knowledge as to whether it is possible to produce rocket propulsion using a nuclear engine. The settlement of Mars seems to me to be of the order of magnitude of the huge barriers that our society has crossed in the past, such as the language barrier, the transition from hunter-gatherer to agriculture. I did not invent these barriers. I took from one of the chapters of the history in a big way. More changes, a colony that meets its needs on Mars. All other presentations of Russia are propaganda in my opinion. Not serious.

  9. Avner
If anything - it's a turbofan engine. A jet engine looks different.
You are right, of course, that it is not an engine intended for space...

  10. There are countries that are afraid of Russia. But suppose they conquer Ukraine, then because of the close relationship between the countries, a civil war could also occur in Russia. In addition to the war expenses, the deaths, and the concern for the reconstruction of Ukraine, they will cause bankruptcy. Faster than they had in Afghanistan. And not yet We talked about sanctions. Russia is a strong country, headed by a maniac leader. A gambler and unpredictable. And after the Putin era, we will see from this amazing country. Wonderful abilities

  11. A Russian device inside a Western system is exactly the same weight as an Italian, German, etc. device.
In Russia for the time being, unfortunately
There are more statements than actions, it's very nice to fill websites, but it doesn't land on any destination beyond the earth,
Assuming that there will be a change and statements will be lost in operations on the ground
We will of course be happy that there will be another leading player in the scientific world and this will further advance our knowledge.
