Administration of Science and Technology in the Ministry of Education, held a national competition in robotics this year, "Roboner 2012", in which students of the XNUMXth - XNUMXth grades, who study robotics, took part. As part of the competition, the students were required to build a robot and design it so that it can extinguish a candle in a maze that simulates a four-room apartment, including placing obstacles, when it is able to return to the starting point. This, according to the contest regulations defined by the contest organizers in the United States.

The Doctor robot from the Meshgav school placed first, the Pyroman robot from the Meshgav school placed second and the SAMI robot from the Meshgav school placed third and also in the judges' prize.

About 2012 post-primary schools from all over the country participated in the 27.02 "Rubuner" competition that took place today (Monday, 17). The winning robots will participate in the international competition which will be held in April 2012 in the city of Redford in the state of Connecticut, USA.

The Ministry of Education states that the robotics competition reflects the long-term study and educational investment of the students in the technology majors - in the three-year robotics specialization in the electronics and mechanical majors. Building the robot requires planning, application of knowledge and teamwork. The national competition has an educational importance since it brings together students from all over the country, where what they all have in common is the application of technology studies and in the process, building a robot, which is a complex process.

The competition embodies the culmination of the educational process, at the end of which the students submit final theses at the level of five study units for matriculation (in addition to an extended science subject). The emphasis in the learning process is on teamwork and dealing with real problems in a real time and in a real environment, simulating or actually constituting a high-tech environment.
