Israeli companies developing the next generation technologies for the Internet of Things (IOT) field will present their products for the first time in the IOT companies complex that was established especially for this purpose as part of the ChipEx2015 conference. Among the exhibiting companies, Pollight has developed a system for optimal management of energy consumption in lighting, sensors and circuit breakers with an automatic system that is installed in buildings and optimizes energy consumption in each structure. The PinkPark company - which produces an efficient and creative device that allows managing public parking spaces, businesses or individuals, the Aquarimat company - provides a unique development for smart management of water consumption through connection to the cellular network and the Internet,
ActionItem - a software application development company for the IOT- and mobile sector, IQP - develops applications for phones, tablets and computers that enable smart business utilization of IOT devices, Omgate - developed an innovative mechanism for opening gates in private and business buildings while effectively managing the opening and closing of gates using the mobile phone , the Powertags company - a system that enables effective tracking of people and facilities in real time with the help of a small, easy-to-operate tag with a long lifespan, the Ledswim company - a modern application designed for swimmers who train in swimming pools and allows for optimal use of the resources available to them. The company Sansa Security - develops and markets designs for an innovative chip that secures phones, home appliances and IOT equipment against unauthorized intrusions and enables information security especially for IOT applications, the company Test Photonics - provides a solution for contactless card testing that enables significant savings in the costs of testing needed to create electronic components and more.'

The Internet of Things - combining hardware, software, communication and more

Typical IOT systems will contain an integration of technologies from the fields of hardware, software as well as interfaces to applications that these systems will manage.
Some of the basic technologies that we will use in IOT are: identification technologies, technological architectures, communication technologies, network technologies, network discovery technology, software and algorithms, search engine technologies, network management technologies, energy supply and energy storage, information security and privacy, and there will be a need for standardization. These technologies will be the enabler of the Internet of Things.

The IC technology will be used to design systems with more and more features and which use non-volatile memory to sense and monitor environmental parameters. For this, development is required in a variety of areas such as extremely low power consumption with minimization of leaks in CMOS technologies, integration of RF in MEMS sensors, and more.

The applications of the IOT carry a lot of potential. We are already beginning to see the first implementation of applications in the areas of the smart home and office, smart transportation systems, smart hospitals, smart companies and factories.

aerospace
In the field of aviation and space, the IOT will be able to help improve the safety and security of products and services through early detection of damaged components. The aviation industry for example is very vulnerable to malfunctions from unapproved spare parts. These are parts that are not guaranteed to meet the requirements. Therefore, they may cause harm to the safety of the plane. Aviation authorities have reported at least 28 accidents in the US that were caused by failures of unapproved components. Except for the waste of time involved in analyzing the materials, verifying the identity of each component can be done by checking the attached documents, something that can easily be missed. It may be possible to solve the problem by implementing an electronic genealogy that indicates their origin and events that may affect safety that occurred in them during their life cycle (for example an update).
By scanning these files in a central database (big data) and an RFID tag that will be securely attached to the aircraft parts, the digital signature will be verified. In this way, the operational safety of the aircraft will be improved.

In recent years, advanced vehicles, trains, buses and even bicycles have begun to contain sensors integrated with increasing processing power. The automotive industry also uses the Internet of Things to monitor and report a variety of parameters ranging from tire pressure to proximity to other mechanics. A device that will be connected to every part of the car will contain the data such as the name of the manufacturer and the date of manufacture, the serial number, the type, the product code and in some applications also the exact location at that moment. Short-range communication systems will make it possible to read each such chip and improve the mechanical production process and maintenance throughout its life on the road. Vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication systems will enable the existence of smart transportation systems, such as road traffic management in combination with the IOT infrastructure.

תקשורת
IOT communication technologies and create new services. An example of this is the integration of cellular communication, sensor network, Bluetooth, WIFI, GPS inside the SIM card. The introduction of NFC capabilities (Near Contactless Communication), which will improve communication between objects in a simple and safe way. The smartphone device can be used as an NFC reader and will transmit the data to a central server. The phone can be used as a smart card for public transportation, a credit card and countless other applications.

Medicine and health services

The Internet of Things is expected to have many applications in the field of healthcare. The device that stores the person's medical file in it can help in emergencies, such as people suffering from various diseases - from heart problems, diabetes, cancer to Alzheimer's. Chips implanted inside the body could, for example, stimulate the muscle through a controlled smart system that would help it regain movement functions.

But even in healthy people it will be possible to implant chips that will collect information about each organ (just like parts in cars). In this way, it will be possible to monitor the conduct of the body over time and not only at the moment of a blood or urine test. The doctor will be able to harvest the information from these chips and based on this data he will be able to better analyze the patient's medical condition.
We see a pinch of this potential in the last decade in the pill of Givan Imaging, which is inserted into the digestive system and broadcasts from it. Now the transmission is very short-term, but when it is found possible to increase the performance of the system (mainly by reducing energy consumption, and perhaps receiving energy directly from the body) it will be possible to do this in other organs of the body, and transmit not only to the doctor nearby but also to doctors in another city or country.

Pharmaceutical companies will be able to use smart tags to prevent counterfeiting or damage to medicines during their shelf life (eg taking them out of refrigeration).

Independent life
Internet of Things applications and services will have a major impact on independent living and will provide support to the aging population by detecting their activity level through wearable sensors and wraps and as mentioned also inside the body. They will monitor chronic diseases for the symptoms of the disease. These things can warn against abnormal situations. The data can undergo 'big data' analysis through service companies established for this purpose.

trade and industry
Smart systems will monitor the location of components and products, allow inventory to be managed in real time, and monitor their transportation in trucks, lifting on forklifts, condition and location of their storage, and more. In the field of industry, the production floor will be filled with sensors, which will make it possible to locate potential faults in time and to standardize in order to reduce the downtime of the production machines.
The researchers contract more (and things are starting to take shape applications in the fields of environmental monitoring, energy infrastructure, media and entertainment and more.

ביטוח
The medical data that helps doctors advise on our health and the data on the vehicle parts that help prevent accidents may also be used by the insurance companies who can lower the insurance for healthy people who drive safely and make it more expensive for the sick and those who tear up the vehicles.

And we haven't even talked about wearable computing, of which the smart watches are only the tip of the iceberg (as well as the smart glasses - although those that Google developed with great fanfare failed).
It seems that there are as many applications as there are engineers on earth, but we tried to at least give a taste of the future.

. The article by the Indian researchers was written in 2011, and therefore I have ignored descriptions of things that are already a thing of the past or that do not express the right direction in which the industry is moving. And as mentioned, on Wednesday you will be able to watch for yourself the applications developed by Israeli start-up companies. at the conference ChipEx 2015 To be held at the exhibition grounds by the ASG company that publishes the magazine Timeout and the website of the chip industry in Israel Chiportal, edited by the HM. The site of the science serves as a media partner in this conference.
