New vice presidents at Tel Aviv University

Prof. Eran Ravani was appointed to the position of Vice President for Research and Development at Tel Aviv University

Professor Eran Rabani from the Department of Chemical Physics at the School of Chemistry has been appointed to the position of Vice President of Tel Aviv University for Research and Development. He replaces Prof. Ehud Gazit, who was appointed chief scientist at the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Prof. Rabani holds a PhD from the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and a post-doctorate from Columbia University in New York. In recent years, he has served as a visiting professor at Harvard University in Boston, Columbia University in New York, Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris, the University of Texas at Austin and the University of California at Berkeley.

Prof. Rabani is considered a trailblazer in the field of the theory of complex systems on the nanometer scale, and his many studies have been published in the leading scientific press. For his work over the years, Prof. Rabani won many awards in Israel and around the world. Prof. Rabani is also active in scientific organizations in Europe and the United States and is a member of many scientific communities around the world.
Within the framework of the university, Prof. Rabani served as the chairman of the undergraduate teaching committee of the School of Chemistry, as the head of the chemical physics department and as the head of the Sackler Institute for Chemical Physics. In addition, he was a member of many university committees, and even served as the deputy head of the local council in the Har-Adar settlement.
The Office of the Vice President for Research and Development of Tel Aviv University is responsible for promoting the research and development activities that take place at the university and for making the knowledge accumulated at the institution accessible to the scientific community. Among the challenges now facing Prof. Rabani: promoting Tel Aviv University in the fields of research, expanding research activities at the university and opening up new research possibilities.

Prof. Raanan Rein was appointed to serve as Vice President of Tel Aviv University.
The new vice president will assist the president in establishing the international position of Tel Aviv University and in deepening the connections and cooperation it maintains with research institutions around the world; in managing the university's relationship with public and government institutions; and in promoting the move to improve the service for faculty and students.
Prof. Rein is a historian of Spain and Latin America with an international reputation. Over the years he wrote and edited more than 25 books and published dozens of articles in different languages. Prof. Rein also serves as an editorial board member in seven international journals, and he edits book series in English and Spanish.
During his twenty years of activity at Tel Aviv University, Prof. Rein served, among other things, as head of the Institute for Latin American History and Culture, as head of the Daniel Avraham Center for International and Regional Studies, and as vice rector.
In addition, Prof. Rein served as a member of the board of the Institute for National Security Studies, as a member of the board of Beit Hatfusot, as a member of the management of the Herzog Institute for Communication and as a member of the management of the Tel Aviv University Publishing House.
