A solution to hardships

No money to pay doctors, no money for housing. Dr. Assaf Rosenthal has two proposals for solving the economic crisis of the Israeli government

Recently, the dams have been breached and economic hardships cause demonstrations, protests and strikes. When you analyze the beam, you get to the heart of the problem (or at least a possible excuse)... Lack of funds. So I have a (small) solution.
I understood little about politics and I understand even less about economics, but I still remember the calculus I learned in elementary school, a simple calculus that allows me to suggest where the missing money will come from. I know two sources so I assume there are more, but I will refer to what I know and know.

first source:
In the last few weeks, the Minister of Transportation came out (again) with statements and promises to establish an international airport in Timna, the cost of construction will be about NIS 10 billion. In the past I have already expressed my opinion on the need for the unnecessary project and wrote that a field that would be 20 km from Eilat would harm Eilat for whom the current field is the connection The best and shortest to the center of the country.
It is necessary to open the "traffic jam" between the city and the hotel area, for this the existing field needs to be extended by 500 meters to the north and shortened to the south, in the area that will become vacant a green park should be built and not ugly towers.
Eilat needs an international field. There is a large field in Aqaba, cooperation will allow the construction of a shuttle route from the Jordanian field to the border terminal, are Eilat's tourists afraid of the competition? They will promote and improve the tourist product of Eilat so that it will stand up to the competition and prevail.
There are those who claim "security problems" and remember that we have peace in Jordan, or that an (Israeli) field 500 meters from the border is not a "security problem"? I don't understand much about aviation, but any rab-bi-rab will understand that two fields at an air distance of about 10 km do not constitute the peak of aviation safety.
That is, instead of the Tamnea field, we will move the field in Eilat a little and pave an access route to the border terminal, instead of spending about 10 billion shekels, we will spend only 1, hallelujah. We found NIS 9 billion!

Second source:
What has not been written and said about the Dead Sea and pool 5 that the rising water level in which endangers the hotels. I also needed this topic and expressed my opinion on which I will return, this time to find a source of funds,
After a long time and discussions at high levels, it was decided that "the right solution is salt harvesting". For those who are not familiar with the subject, clarification and explanation: Pool 5 is the northern pool in the system of evaporation ponds for the production of minerals, water from the northern basin flows into pool 5 and after reaching a certain level of saturation (in minerals) the water is flowed to the southern pools.
Meanwhile, salt sinks in the pool. Over the years, a layer of salt (about 6-8 meters) was created that raises the water level. This is the salt that was decided to be harvested (removed) to lower the water level. The cost of the harvest is estimated at about NIS 7 billion.
I suggested before and I repeat: instead of harvesting the salt in the entire pool, the salt will be harvested only near the shore up to a distance of about 200-300 meters from the shore, a harvest that will create a lagoon, a lagoon that will give visitors to the hotels and beaches the opportunity to dip in the Dead Sea water, the lagoon will serve as a water carrier to the southern pools .
Of course this means that over time the rest of the pond's surface will dry out, which means the factories will produce less minerals... (there will be no need for a "film day" for the sake of the factory owners). Harvesting the salt in the area, which will be smaller than 1/20 of the surface of the pool, will cost tens of millions! And again! We found NIS 5-6 billion.

So what did we find out:
By canceling a megalomaniac and unnecessary project and by minimally affecting the income of a billionaire family, with the help of a 15th grade calculator, we found more than NIS XNUMX billion.
Hallelujah!

  1. Indeed, you are not an economist, and neither am I.
Investing in a new home in Eilat is income. Because that's how it is in economics.
Ben Gurion is 20 km from Tel Aviv
And in the world Lod is not mentioned as the city in whose territory it is located.
And you forgot that you transferred all the livelihood / income from the field to the Jordanians for a hundred years.
And add to that an expense.
    Your airlines will pay them.
post Scriptum. The distance of 20 km is negligible. What's more, a train is planned between the points.
    Times? 12 minutes each way.

  2. Gentlemen:
I put together the hardships that are being protested at the moment to give the list a contemporary aspect,
    Camila –
I have no doubt that you are right and the list shows that there is money, it just needs to be distributed correctly,
    point –
The Dead Sea is in a predicament that we caused, the establishment of an unnecessary field
Supposed to give a wrong solution to a predicament.
    Avi -
I have already written in the past that "end of response in reading and reading comprehension", explanation:
When salt is "harvested" only near the coast, a deep area will be created - this will be the lagoon,
When the rest of the pool area is dried, there will only be water in the lagoon at a low level
About 6 meters above the current level... "Kapish"?

  3. Assaf - You have one fundamental mistake: the problem is not a lack of money, the problem is the routing of funds to a few families of capitalists at the expense of the rest of the public.

  4. Troubles? Does the doctor know what distress is? Since when can the Dead Sea or a traffic jam at an airport be in distress?

  5. Harvesting salt only in a narrow strip near the hotels will not prevent the water from rising and flooding the hotels in a few years (which is the problem with salt deposition)... so it is not a solution.

  6. It is a mistake to think that the problem is funding.
The problem in negotiating with the doctors is about the principles of work and transparency. The Treasury's war with the doctors was to prevent the senior doctors from continuing to celebrate at the expense of the interns. When the treasury "surrendered" to the doctors' union, that's when the interns were alarmed and realized that they had been sold (again).
If the general media would support the treasury in its righteous wars (not all...) they would serve the public. The problem is that the general tone today is extreme socialist and therefore we the public will pay high prices in the future for the contemporary media populism in Israel.
Something very, very strange is happening in apartment prices. When Netanyahu came to power, he focused on the housing problem. A problem created by previous governments as well as when he was finance minister. But it is clear to everyone that he is not the main culprit in the situation.
In the last two months, the prices have stabilized, and according to the forecasts, the prices will start to decrease in the coming months.
Just then, "suddenly" some non-political young people (?) woke up and began to attack the government.
And in our case, after the government allocated an additional NIS 7(!) billion to higher education institutions, it is hard to say that the current government is skimping on the budget. The government's attempt is to change the order of Genesis here and deal with a lot of problems that have accumulated in the last decades in the country.
But the problem doesn't seem to be budget.

  7. We really don't have NIS 10 billion extra right now... we need to concentrate on the important things, and it doesn't seem like another international airport is that necessary.
