MND Diagnostic, the developer of the technology, is currently negotiating with a large company to develop a rapid veterinary kit to detect and prevent the spread of the deadly H5N1 bird flu. The kit developed by the company will also allow immediate identification of SARS, corona viruses, meningitis virus, hepatitis viruses, AIDS and more

One of the problems facing airports in the world is not knowing whether the person entering their gates has a contagious disease. The company MND Diagnostic warms up initiatives, has developed an innovative technology for the immediate identification of viruses and other pathogens active in the examined body. The technology is flexible and allows its application to a wide range of viruses, such as bird flu, Sars, corona viruses, meningitis virus, hepatitis viruses, AIDS and more, easily and quickly compared to existing methods. These days, negotiations are underway with a large company to develop a rapid veterinary kit to identify and prevent the spread of the deadly H5N1 bird flu. The technology will be presented at the "Biomed 2006" conference that will be held between the 29th and 31st at the Nation Buildings in Jerusalem.

The test is simple: a sample is taken from the subject, such as saliva or a nasal wash, and a solution with an identification agent, suitable for the type of disease you want to detect, is placed in a test tube. If there is a change in color, the answer is positive, that is, the person is sick.

The company has a plan to develop test kits for a single disease (which can be placed in airports as protection against bird flu) to kits for laboratories that are able to detect 64 different viral diseases. The company's current focus is on developing a kit to identify the source of meningitis and a kit to identify bird flu. The more advanced computerized assessments will be used by laboratories and hospitals for the immediate detection and warning of existing and new viruses. During the test, a message will appear on the computer monitor about the detected viruses, and whether they belong to known virus families.

According to Dorit Arad, president of MND, the innovative platform developed by the company is a combination of bioinformatics, knowledge gained from the genome project, computational organic chemistry and combinatorial and experimental chemistry. "This is an innovative development that definitely provides an answer to the detection of the new epidemics that are breaking out in the world and preventing their spread," says Arad. "I believe that within a few years the product will enter hospitals, laboratories and even airports."

About the company:

Year of establishment: 2004
Founders: Dorit Arad, David Greenberg, Yosef Av-Gai, Assaf Ezra, Boaz Shitzer.
Capital raising: This month a research and royalties agreement on part of the technology was signed with a diagnostics company from abroad, which sells products in Europe and the USA.

Biomed 2006"Biomed 2006" week is the main event of the life sciences industry in Israel. It will be held this year (this is the fifth time) between May 29-31, at the Congress Center in Jerusalem and will include an exhibition in which approximately 150 exhibitors from Israel and the world will participate and related conferences. The conferences will discuss topics such as: cardiology, orthopedics, medical devices and medicine after 2010. A special track will be devoted to the issue of capital raising for the various industries in the field. Chairmen of the organizing committee: Dr. Aharon Schwartz Mevane and Dr. Rafi Hoffstein, CEO of Hadasit. Organization: "Conference of Exhibitions".
