A large meteorite crashed on the pro-Bolivian border

About 200 people living in a nearby village claimed nausea, headaches and difficulty breathing, but the tests revealed nothing

A fiery meteorite crashed last weekend in southern Peru, and on Wednesday of this week experts from the geophysics department at the local university confirmed this, however in the background there is still an unresolved claim by about 200 people living in a nearby village about headaches and dizziness as well as breathing difficulties that occurred immediately after the meteorite fell.

The locals said that a ball of fire fell from the sky and fell on a plain in the Andes region near the border with Bolivia on Saturday morning. Jose Marsha, a researcher at the Geophysical Institute of Peru, said geologists confirmed that a rocky meteorite had landed at the site based on analyzed fragments. A crater was formed there that is about 20 meters long and about eight meters deep.

He said that water in the muddy crater may have boiled for about ten minutes as a result of the heat and it is possible that it caused vapors that carried a substance that made people sick. The scientists took samples from the water for testing, but according to him, there was no evidence of contamination in the water.

Jorge López, director of the Department of Natural Resources in the state of the province where the meteorite crashed, told news agencies that about 200 people complained of headaches, nausea and breathing difficulties caused by toxic fumes that rose from the crater, but a team of doctors who arrived in the isolated area on Wednesday found no evidence that the meteorite caused morbidity. No abnormal radiation levels were measured in the area either, but they took blood, urine and hair samples for analysis. Residents living near the crater reported smells of sulfur that lasted for at least an hour after the meteorite fell, and this caused them upset stomachs and headaches, but Jose Ishikoteka, an astrophysicist from the Geophysical Institute of Peru who examined the crater, said he doubts this.

  1. Mr. D. breach,
According to what you say, smoking outside, near passers-by who have no choice but to inhale the poison that someone chose to put into them is fine, but automatically uploading content to a website is not? Really thank God we have Yom Kippur so I can breathe some clean air without having to walk away from public parks and cross the street.
And in my opinion, large media organizations (ie radio and television) strike precisely because it is the law and not for any other reason.

And how would you explain the next pearl that came out of your mouth? (Activation of the site on Yom Kippur) "Harmful to the objectivity of the site and from now on it will be seen in my eyes as a primarily secular site and not as an independent scientific site!"
A scientific website refers to only one thing - scientific truth established according to scientific standards that have been used for a long time.
If a Christian priest or a Jewish rabbi suddenly proves, without a shadow of a doubt, that man is not descended from apes, do you think this is what will prevent a scientific and objective news website (like the scientist) from publishing it? As long as that pastor and/or rabbi did follow scientific standards and presented evidence accordingly, I can't think of any reason why a site like the scientist wouldn't publish it.

If secularism is a cause of defect in your opinion, then I have not a single good word to say to you and about you. And hence I better stop now.

  2. Blizovsky and my son have what is called an eye mirror, as they say, justice should not only be done, but also seen! And since this is the first Kippur that I visit Hidan, I responded now and not before!
Trust me it doesn't look good when even one day a year you can't strike! Bigger than you like all media outlets that lose a lot of revenue stop their broadcasts even though they don't have to be seen either! Just a matter of respecting the customs of the country we live in just as I will not smoke outside on Yom Kippur (and we smoked yesterday.. luckily they didn't do it on the fire in the grass!)!
And it's not about coercion but minimal consideration if you want to be the website of the majority of the public.
For me, the smoker in a public garden snarled..and uploading the content on Yom Kippur! But if the information came up automatically and was written before Yom Kippur, then it would be very desirable to mention it!
Besides that, I will think about what I wrote and if I come to a different conclusion... you will know!

  3. to Mr. New,
I am not familiar with the present case, but I am familiar with sediments and various microbiological activities. I assume that this block of land in which a 20-meter hole has been opened is no different in its microbial composition from all the other places in the world that recycle sulfur and therefore assume (only assume, without knowing the material) that these are the phenomena of sulfur inhalation. In the article it is said that at least an hour after the fall, the residents smelled sulfur in the air and this could be a cause of somatic and sometimes also psychosomatic phenomena among humans.

    Greetings friends
    Ami Bachar

  4. Led. breach. Please check when Yom Kippur fell in the last ten years and look for articles from those days. What happened this year in particular?
This year, unlike previous years, I have an automatic scheduling system that does not require my active participation in the update (and so, for example, I was in Eilat during Rosh Hashanah, and I did not go online at 12 midnight, and the website was updated.
Moreover, the number of visits and pages viewed on the website was not lower than on a normal Saturday.
But it's really unrelated. If you are logged in, then what bothered you that the website was updated?

  5. To Ami Bachar
I understood from your response to the article that the locals breathed sulfur or a sulfur compound.
According to the article, the locals did not complain about a pungent (stinky) smell
From the sulfur I imagine they would run away from the smell.
    Waiting for your reply.

  6. To D. Peretz.. You yourself are worthy of reproach. What is the connection between a needle and a plate?
This excellent site (which I do not visit regularly, I admit, I arrived following an article in YNET), is a scientific site. Why does a scientific website need to position itself as subject to heritage considerations (Jewish or otherwise), and why do you see the operation of the site in Kippur as an "injury" to you or your heritage, especially when you yourself do not really see yourself as subject to it?
Those who wanted to visit him on Kippur did, those who didn't didn't. Since when is someone supposed to change when content has been entered into it, and why?

In conclusion - clean yourself first, and do not mix matters of faith and national affiliation with matters of science or content services.

And yes, I spent Kippur eating and resting, as I see fit. Maybe in your opinion my current reaction is also infected with Jewish non-conformism?

  7. I want to condemn in every language of condemnation the fact that the Hidan site was active on Yom Kippur!!
Even though I'm not religious at all and even went online... I didn't expect that this website, which represents a balanced and objective approach, would not respect the heritage of the Jewish people on this special day!
Up until now you have only received evaluations from me today, you received a black mark and this is because of the lack of understanding in operating the site on Yom Kippur .. it harms the justification of the operation throughout the rest of the year and harms the objectivity of the site and from now on it will be seen in my eyes as a mainly secular site and not as an independent scientific site!
I expected to find a good new year and a good signature ending and goodbye when the holiday is over... I hope you will come to your senses for next Kippur, in short it was irrelevant and unnecessary!
    Happy new year to everyone

  8. To my father
    Thanks and good signing

  9. Probably a combination of gas poisoning with somatoform disorder. It is almost certain that sulfur poisoning caused these problems, and perhaps for some it is a type of bile disorder, or mass hysteria, which causes them to feel the above symptoms as well.

  10. To my father

    It is about two articles:-
On spiral galaxy, gravitation and dark mass
    Part I 6.5.2007
    Part II 15.5.2007

  11. The described phenomena can also be the result of general anxiety (something that has full justification, when a meteorite explodes from a crater with a diameter of 20 meters near your village).

  12. Yehuda Sabdarmish,
Just out of curiosity and hopefully the question is not annoying... What is your academic education?

  13. Yehuda, the address you gave is of the home page of the old site. Give me the title of the article and I will transfer it to the new site.

  14. Ami Bachar has a good signature
I understand that they needed some kind of microbiologist to explain to them a chapter on sulfur gears.
Apart from that, good afternoon, I finally answered you about the set of questions you put before me in the article about spiral galaxy gravitation and dark mass. You can enter and be impressed.
    easy fasting

  15. Sulfur, especially in its most concentrated state, is a much more toxic substance than cyanide, for example. While in order to see significant effects from cyanide, millimolar concentrations are needed, for sulfur, a few tens of micromolars are enough to cause dizziness, headaches and even suffocation.

The soil, especially in its deeper areas, is a place where sulfur reduction is the main biological process, at the same time as the oxidation of methane. It is very likely that in such a boiling soup of soil to a depth of several meters, the concentration of the dissolved sulfur that evaporated into the air was high enough to cause the above symptoms
