The President of the Academy of Sciences, Prof. Nili Cohen - Israel Prize laureate in the field of legal research

 In the reasons for the award committee it was stated: Prof. Neely Cohen is a leading researcher in the field of contract law as well as in other branches of Israeli law. Prof. Cohen's contribution to the advancement of legal research is known in Israel and internationally. The research subjects in which she dealt are very diverse and include other branches of private law as well as public law and comparative law.

Minister of Education Naftali Bennett announced the winning of the Israel Prize in the field of legal research,Prof. Neely Cohen. Minister Bennett approved the recommendation of the award committee chaired by Prof. Ruth Ben Israel, with committee members Prof. Zipora Cohen and Prof. Sinai Deutsch.

 

In the reasons for the award committee it was stated: Prof. Neely Cohen is a leading researcher in the field of contract law as well as in other branches of Israeli law. Prof. Cohen's contribution to the advancement of legal research is known in Israel and internationally. The research topics she dealt with are very diverse and include other branches of private law as well as public law and comparative law.

Prof. Cohen created a new field in the study of Israeli law, an interdisciplinary study known as law and literature. The strength inherent in her research stems to a large extent from the fact that they are boundary testers and boundary breakers. Her rich writing examines the integration of literature in law and law in literature as well as examines the boundaries between private and public and between law and morality.

In her writing, she tries to bridge different fields of knowledge, and bring about integration and mutual fertilization between them. Prof. Neely Cohen is an academic leader who was chosen for her achievements to be the president of the Israel National Academy of Sciences and has an important voice in the fight for the image of legal and academic research in Israeli society. Prof. Neely Cohen's contribution qualifies her to be worthy of the Israel Prize in Legal Research.

Science Minister Ofir Akunis called Prof. Nili Cohen, president of the National Academy of Sciences, and congratulated her on winning the Israel Prize for Legal Research. In their conversation, Minister Akunis said to Prof. Nili Cohen: "Your win is a true certificate of honor for the entire State of Israel and of course an expression of your tremendous contribution over the years. Your reward is our pride." Prof. Nili Cohen thanked the Minister of Science for his blessings.
