The Hebrew University and Hadassah launched a biotechnological park in the Hadassah Ein Kerem complex

The Hebrew University and Hadassah launched yesterday (Wednesday) at the Hadassah Ein Kerem University Hospital a biotechnological park in the Hadassah Ein Kerem complex. The park will provide incubator conditions for start-up companies dealing in the life sciences.

In the first phase, the park will be spread over 9000 square meters, five floors of offices and laboratories and three parking floors will be built. At a later stage, it will be possible to expand the park according to the demand of the start-up companies that will be located in the park.

About 25 start-up companies will be able to operate in the park and thrive in the conditions of a warm, supportive and encouraging home. The physical proximity to the Hadassah Ein Kerem University Hospital and the Hebrew University School of Medicine will provide support and serve as an umbilical cord for companies that will operate in the park. The companies will be able to benefit from the various facilities and services that Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital and the Medical School can offer.

For the purpose of establishing the park, the Hebrew University and Hadassah established a joint company called UNIHAD. Construction of the park will begin in the coming weeks, and it is planned to open in the spring of 2007.

The biotechnological park will be established using the BOT method according to which the land, the design of the building - its construction and operation will be handed over to entrepreneurs for 25 years. The University Property Company deals with the property management for Hadassah and the Hebrew University.
