We are not enough to get used to the present and the future is peeking around the corner in the form of another technological innovation. At this rate, the automotive world's rosy prophecy of driverless cars will soon come true. So what is really going to happen in the near future, what will it look like and what will happen to the car insurance used by car drivers today?

Google is making history
The global company Google has left its mark on many products and services and is the one that initiated one of the most talked about projects, the driverless car project. In June of 2014, Google presented a prototype of a driverless car that it is developing. The prototype did not include what we are usually used to seeing in any vehicle, whether it is a steering wheel or pedals, but two buttons for start and stop. Google's goal in developing this car is that all the passengers will have to do is type in the destination and press a button that allows the car to reach that destination. The vehicle will be based on an electric drive and its maximum speed will be low. This smart transportation will allow passengers to decide when the car will drive them and when it will stop and the goal is that this car will ensure safe driving and as a result the number of accidents will decrease. Another revolutionary innovation will be the definition of the car, it will have no owners.

Autonomous cars
The prediction of many experts in the automotive field is that within a few decades all vehicles will be automatic and driverless. Just like initially people used gasoline engine vehicles and then they switched to diesel engine vehicles. An autonomous car is a car that does not need a human operator. The only thing that the passenger will have to do in this vehicle is to define the destination point he wishes to reach. Google is just one of the companies working on a driverless car and there are many car manufacturers working very hard on a prototype of this type of car. The advantages of driverless cars, besides safe driving and reaching destinations within a predetermined period of time, are many. One of the advantages is reflected in everything related to Car insurances. If today, insurance companies offer mandatory car insurance as well as comprehensive and third-party insurance, the question on the agenda for many people is whether an automatic car without a driver means a reduction in car insurance and will we need them at all?

In conclusion, safety is one of the most important things we can achieve by driving a driverless car. The expectation is that the sophisticated vehicle systems will lead to a very significant decrease in the number of accidents. This will significantly affect the world of car insurance and the various insurance coverages and most likely the insurance policies will be very different from the policies that exist today. Accordingly, the cost of insurance will most likely be lower in the future than the cost of insurance today, and this is because of the low level of risk.
