Carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels have increased by 49% in the last two decades. This is according to the data of an international team, which also included a researcher at the Tyndall Institute for Climate Change Studies at the University of East Anglia.

The new analysis, published on December 4 in the journal Nature Climate Change shows that sulfur dioxide emissions increased by 5.9% in 2010 and by a cumulative rate of 49% since 1990, the reference year of the Kyoto Protocol.
On average, carbon emissions increased by 3.1% per year between 2000 and 2010, three times their rate during the 0s. They also predict a further increase in carbon emissions by 3.1% in 2011.

The total emissions, including fuel for combustion, for cement production, the equivalent of deforestation and emissions from other land uses reached 10 billion tons of carbon (36.7 billion tons per year), for the first time in history. Half of the emissions remained in the atmosphere, and the DTP concentration reached 389.6 parts per million. The rest of the emissions were absorbed by the oceans and forests, more or less in equal proportion.

This is a trend reversal, after the economic crisis years of 2008-9 saw a temporary decrease in carbon emissions. Last year's growth was due to both the developed and developing economies. Rich countries continued to outsource some of their emissions to developing countries through international trade.

The main contributors to the increase in carbon emissions in 2010 were mainly China, the USA, India, Russia and the European Union. Emissions from trade in goods and services produced in developing economies but consumed in the West increased from 2.5% of the rich countries' share in 1990 to 16% in 2010.
In Britain, emissions increased by 20% compared to the 1990 target, but some of them were offset through carbon trading.

"Carbon dioxide emissions since 2000 are at the upper end of the projection used by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which predicted that the impact of this rate would be an increase of 2 degrees by 2100." says Prof. Corinne Le Carré, director of the Tyndall Center for Climate Change Research and professor at the University of East Anglia. "But we urge governments to maintain a level of warming of less than two degrees to avoid the most dangerous aspects of climate change such as water shortages and sea level rise, as well as an increase in extreme weather events."

According to her, "taking steps to reverse the trends is an urgent matter".
The main researcher in the project, Dr. Glen Pitt from the Center for Climate and Environmental Research in Norway, said: "Many saw the financial crisis as an opportunity to divert the economy from dependence on the increase in carbon emissions, but the return of the increase in 2010 indicates that this opportunity was not taken advantage of."

Another researcher who is a partner in the study, Dr. Pep Kendall, director of the Global Carbon Project, added: "The global financial crisis helped developed countries meet their commitments to emissions in the Kyoto and Copenhagen Conventions, but the effect was short-term and the challenges that existed before remain."

  1. The balance of the earth as you described in the pool is on a much larger scale than your metaphor, it's like an ocean filling and emptying and throwing a few million people inside, this factor is so subtle that you will have to take into account these millions of tiny factors, and this is not at our level and may even be impossible.
The oceans, their temperature is responsible for the carbon dioxide levels.
"Weather Man" A person who predicted the weather by "Sun Spots" is a heavy proof of my argument that we are at the mercy of the Sun God.

  2. Listen, first of all on the whole topic of global warming, there is no certainty, there are differences of opinion here and as far as the weather is concerned, it is made up of so many so many factors that creating a computer simulation is impossible, that's a.
    B. I'm quite of the opinion that we're sure that Earth is a safe and innocent place and that we can destroy what we've been given, I say, bullshit.
From our tiny point of view, humans, we have existed for a long time, in terms of the earth's clock, we are less than a fraction of a second, luckily we were created on a period of time that is suitable for the development of life, but the weather of the earth always changes radically, every little swell of the sun can change everything , so I prefer to start and say that apart from harming ourselves we can't really change anything, the sun, this huge thing above our heads every day dictates the warming and the amount of carbon dioxide and we are such a small factor in the equation that it is almost negligible.
If we plan to stay here for a long time it is impossible not to accept that the earth will try to shake us off without intending to, the activity of the sun is increasing and this is proven, the globe would heat up one way or another and we may be marching towards another mass extinction.
And by the way man-made carbon dioxide (open emphasis) will not (close emphasis) warm Mars.

  3. You know, nature works out, that is, until man created the forests and polluted the sea, the algae and the forests absorbed all the carbon emitted by animal breathing, spontaneous fires and volcanoes, but today man has also damaged nature's ability to absorb the huge amounts produced in it, and also adds his own . It's like having a pool from which water is constantly coming out and being filled with new water. As long as the amount of water entering and leaving is the same, there will be no increase in the level of the pool surface. As soon as we change the balance and more per mille of water enters than the amount that comes out eventually there will be such an increase that will cause the water to flow out. Therefore, it is not the volume of the pool that is important, but the fact that the addition, however small, does not balance.

What's more, this argument is a typical argument of the deniers, who don't fully understand it, and probably on purpose.

  4. You are aware that this is nothing compared to the amounts of carbon dioxide that are emitted from natural things, such as volcanoes, rotting leaves, swelling of breathing creatures and most of all the oceans that emit carbon dioxide as they warm.
The graphs showed show something that Gore hid, that with all the warming and the increase in carbon dioxide, warming began first and then the amount of carbon dioxide began to increase, and first cooling began and then the amounts of carbon dioxide decreased.
Instead of investing resources in "stopping global warming" resources should be invested in dealing with warming situations, population density, energy sources that will disappear and more...

  5. Exciting news:
I learned from a very reliable source that the Higgs boson, the mass-carrying particle, had been discovered
At the LHC accelerator in Sern, Switzerland.
The rumors (founded in this case) have been circulating in the physicist community for about two weeks.
On 13-12-2011, a press conference will be held in Seren where the discovery will be announced.
I assume that the discovery is already known to many, but they are prevented from publishing it before publication
the official Since the ethical limitation that applies to professionals does not apply to me, as a reader,
I credit the science site with the right to be the first, or at least among the first
to publish the discovery. As mentioned, the source is reliable...cast concrete (Bozon).
I repeat again: the Higgs boson was discovered at the LHC. Mazel Tov.

  6. Most of the increase in the emission of FDF comes from the printing of dollars by the American Fed, trillions of dollars that are burned on Wall Street become billions of tons of FDF.
