An exhibition at the Israeli National Academy of Sciences on human evolution, on the occasion of International Darwin Day, will reveal extremely ancient fossilized skulls that have not yet been shown to the public

An important exhibition was opened at the Israel National Academy of Sciences in Jerusalem where the reconstructed route of human evolution will be presented through the scientific evidence - fossilized skulls of ancient hominid species, from the private collection of Prof. Yoel Rak, a member of the Academy, from the Department of Anatomy and Anthropology at the School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University

With the publication of Charles Darwin's theory of evolution, the obvious question was immediately asked: Could it be that man is also nothing more than the product of many generations of descent from simpler ancestors, as the theory holds regarding the entire animal world?

Due to the recognition of the uniqueness of man, the positive answer to this question seemed unacceptable. Darwin himself avoided discussing the sensitive issue of the origin of man, and by his very avoidance he actually aroused curiosity, which led to feverish attempts on the part of scientists, who believe that the theory of evolution must also apply to man, to find the proof of this.

At the end of the nineteenth century, the "missing link" connecting the primitive ape and man was discovered, and since then many more links have been added and discovered. These vertebrae document human evolution and provide proof of the validity of the theory.

An important exhibition will now be held at the Israel National Academy of Sciences in Jerusalem, where the reconstructed route of human evolution will be presented through scientific evidence - fossilized skulls of ancient hominid species, from the private collection of Prof. Yoel Rak, a member of the Academy, from the Department of Anatomy and Anthropology at the School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University. Prof. Reck is one of the most senior researchers of human evolution in the world and his well-known contribution is in the study of the anatomy of the face, the evolution of upright walking and the biomechanics of the masticatory system and upright movement.

The exhibition will also feature the exotic representatives of "side" branches in the evolutionary tree of the human family, which developed at the same time as man and existed alongside him but did not survive to the present, including the clumsy Australopithecus, Neanderthal man and Homo Heidelbergensis.

The exhibits in the exhibition, including the oldest fossils known to the world of research, were found around the world and some of them have not yet been presented to the general public.
The exhibition takes place and opens in preparation for International Darwin Day which will be celebrated on Tuesday 12/2. On this day there will be a conference open to the general public at the Israeli National Academy of Sciences under the title "Homo sapiens and its strange relatives - the Neanderthals".
The exhibition is presented at the Israel National Academy of Sciences. It is open free of charge on Sunday-Thursday from 17:00 to 09:00

  1. It's a shame that the exhibition is only on Sunday-Thursday, 17:00-09:00. Impossible hours for working people, especially if they come from outside Jerusalem...

  2. Arie, you are wrong about the 70-year-old wall paintings, they were also made by Homo sapiens. It is likely that the artistic ability of the Neanderthals was inferior (and perhaps much) to that of their brothers.

  3. Again and again and again many good people make mistakes and mislead
    regarding evolution as a "theory"
    Write :
"...as the theory holds..." and: "...the validity of the theory..."
Therefore, it is worth emphasizing again and again that:
Evolution is not a "theory" but a factual process,
There are theories that explain the process/fact called evolution,
But treating evolution as a "theory" is equivalent to treating the earth as flat...
A wrong attitude since a theory can be debated and even contradicted,
Not so for process / fact...

  4. More than 2-3%. I also read about 5%. Yes… we are all a bit Neanderthals. By the way, they had a brain 30% bigger than ours. Not bad. blue eyes…. Red hair. more and more. And the ancient cave paintings, 70,000 years old - the African had not yet left Africa and had not arrived there, it only happened 40,000 years later.
