A study by the Wolfson Medical Center found that eating cinnamon has a medical benefit: it helps lower blood pressure

The results of Dr. Weinstein's research proved that adding cinnamon to the daily diet may improve systolic blood pressure in people suffering from type 2 diabetes.

Various studies have already proven that eating cinnamon may improve various metabolic indices among diabetics. At the same time, few studies have examined the relationship between cinnamon and these indices in randomized controlled studies.

Dr. Julio Weinstein, director of the diabetes unit at the Wolfson Medical Center, recently conducted a study on the subject, the purpose of which was to test the relationship between eating cinnamon and metabolic indices among type 2 diabetic patients (who do not receive insulin).

The results of Dr. Weinstein's research proved that the addition of cinnamon to the daily diet may improve systolic blood pressure among people suffering from type 2 diabetes. You could lower blood sugar levels, but only by lowering blood pressure."

Dr. Weinstein explains how he conducted the study: "We approached adults over the age of 30 who suffer from type 2 diabetes. The participants in the study were randomly divided into two groups: one group received an amount of 1200 mg of cinnamon per day, and the other group received a placebo ( placebo). All participants underwent a preliminary physical examination by a doctor. After 12 weeks, the participants were tested again."

According to Dr. Weinstein, the participants underwent blood pressure tests, glycated hemoglobin (a parameter that indicates the balance of diabetes during the 3 months preceding the day of the test), fasting sugar, lipid profile (cholesterol, triglycerides), liver and kidney functions, and a urine test.

And the results: the systolic blood pressure of the participants in the group treated with cinnamon decreased from the first test by 3.4 mmHg, with a range of 11.4. In contrast, in the group treated with "placebo" the systolic blood pressure increased by 1.9 mmHg.

  1. 1-Is it possible to combine cinnamon with honey to lower the percentage of cinnamon toxicity?
2-because from what is known, honey is a natural antibiotic

  2. Yaron:
I also read that article, but your conclusion does not follow from it.
To treat Alzheimer's, the same step of extracting the active ingredient is indeed required, because, as mentioned - the necessary amount is large.
This is to say nothing of the research described in this article that does not treat Alzheimer's, does not require huge amounts of cinnamon, and perhaps the active ingredient that affects it is something else altogether.

  3. Currently there is a textual link on the top right.
I contacted the organizers of the translation to provide me with the link to the reduced image again.

  4. Avi Shalom,

How can you get to the image of the day in astronomy?

Previously, the (reduced) image would appear on the right side of every page.

    to me.

  5. Thanks Michal.
This feature is not part of the template we purchased and therefore requires individual work. It is impossible to say at the moment when we will be able to reach her because there are other urgent things, but we will take it into account.

  6. to the editor
The upgrade is impressive and comfortable
    How about adding a feature:
that the expansion of the link on the right will be done when the mouse passes over the corresponding link on the left.

  7. I read something similar not long ago about cinnamon preventing Alzheimer's. But what was stated in that article and not mentioned here was that relatively large amounts of cinnamon per day are needed for it to be effective, and large amounts of cinnamon cause damage because of a certain ingredient present in it. Therefore, what is required is to extract from cinnamon the same component that helps to prevent Alzheimer's or in this case - to lower blood pressure.
That's why discovering the importance of cinnamon is only the first step on the way to making a medicine - there's nothing to run and buy cinnamon sticks at the supermarket 🙂
