A strong solar storm reached Earth, but caused no damage

The only effect that the storm had, apart from maybe on satellites in space, was a strong display of the aurora borealis even in areas further south in Europe and America than Scandinavia and Canada

A strong solar storm collided with the Earth's magnetic field shortly after 17:00 Israel time yesterday on January 24. The particle flux from the solar storm intensified the storm, which is now considered the largest observed since October 2003.

NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center categorized the storm as a Category 3 out of 5. Solar radiation storms can damage the functioning of satellites in space and the propagation of shortwave radio, but cannot harm humans on Earth.

Spectators in Europe and the North of the US will be able to watch the aurora borealis tonight even in areas relatively far from the North Pole.

For news about the storm of 2003, including an explanation of the conditions for a strong solar storm to hit the Earth

The sun erupted in the early morning hours of January 22 as a magnitude 8.7 solar flare (a different rating than the storm), a coronal mass ejection (CME) that makes its way directly to Earth, as well as a burst of fast protons in an event known as an "Energetic Solar Particle Event" ". Such an event has now caused the strongest solar storm since September 2005.

The Space Weather Forecast Department at NASA's Goddard Space Center predicts that the CME is moving at a speed of 2,200 kilometers per second. As mentioned, apart from the aurora borealis show, even in relatively southern areas, it did not cause any damage.

  1. ok I understand that I still don't understand
In any case, have any of you looked at the PDF equations and this?

  2. But Yehuda, I must say that I was favorably impressed by you as a person.
    First time I saw you…

  3. I knew you were on the same page.
You treat yourself in exactly the same way, roughly like this:

You begin with a description in which you complete the listeners that you compare your scientific level (physical, mathematical, research) to real scientists. Although everything you said now is in total what you read from others.
Then the listeners are impressed and ready to hear what you have to say.
Then comes the famous Yitzhakit tilapia technique:
"The scientists encountered a problem…. Blah blah blah... Then they said (and hence it is said in a dismissive and graceful tone so that the audience sympathizes and laughs and joins in the disdain) "Come on let's add the {missing mass, strong force}..."

  4. Understand, this is a devious person who mocks scientific thinking, in the name of his own stupidity. Like many others, since they do not understand physics, chemistry and mathematics, they mock those who do.

Maybe Yehuda will like to watch the video, they are in the same mind.

In general those people, since they don't know how to really solve problems, all they have left is to lecture about their ideas.

  5. understanding:
I listened to his hour and a half lecture and I must say that I did not understand anything.
I don't think I'm a complete idiot, so I'm inclined to believe that the rest of the audience that was present at the lecture (and laughed when he hinted that they needed to laugh) didn't understand anything he said.
Some of the things seemed to me to be completely out of touch with reality and some of them seemed to me to be just vague or undefined.
It can't be that he thought anyone really understood him, so I'm sure he didn't mean to be understood at all.
Maybe he has something smart to say, but if so, it seems that he tried very hard not to say it in his lecture.
I wasted an hour and a half and learned nothing.

  6. ok first of all I understand that you haven't seen a video because there are equations there.
And besides, I did as you advised and asked for equations that can be checked and guess what...they brought me.
Here is the link to the work in PDF with equations. I learned a little physics but it is not enough. Maybe you understand more and you can look at the link and understand what it is about.

The next time you are asked to express an opinion on some theory under the pretext that it is a physical theory,
Ask them for proofs that will at least be in the form of mathematical equations that can be checked.
Oh, and it wouldn't hurt to learn some physics first either.

  8. I respect your opinion. But what did I ask for.. a matter-of-fact treatment of the theory itself for a change. From people who understand the matter because I don't and therefore I don't know how to repel such claims and there are people I argued with about the matter but I had nothing to answer them except evasive answers like yours. .

  9. "understanding"
If it looks like New Age and sounds like New Age - then it's probably not a physical theory.

  10. Father, if you allow, I will post a video here that talks about physical theory and not New Age nonsense that talks about spirituality as I know you don't like.. just please don't delete it for me in a second without devoting a factual answer to this theory which is not the property of the mainstream but is pure physical theory. I I would like to know what scientists think about this in a matter-of-fact way, since I myself do not find any contradiction to this theory, but I also do not have a great understanding of physics.

  11. Cassiopeia, you don't have to go far, the normal energy that the sun sends to the earth for an hour is enough for all of humanity for a whole year. You just have to find ways to harvest it, and stop harassing it like the lobbyists of the oil companies do.

  12. I wonder how much energy the CME burst that reached Earth is worth.
Maybe in the future it would be worthwhile to learn to use this energy and store it.
Think of a CME eruption once every few years that could provide energy to a large city
    for a year or more.

  13. You did not understand correctly 11 solar systems that have stars in them...

  14. You can upload the information regarding Kepler who published not long ago that there are 11 planets orbiting one sun

  15. to Ronan
Because they don't move at the speed of light!
They move at a speed of several million kilometers per hour
    Good Day
    Sabdarmish Yehuda

  16. I don't understand one thing
Why does it take the particles that are supposed to move at the speed of light to reach the earth from the sun in 24 hours instead of 8 minutes?
    Can someone explain this?

  17. Father, budget problems are a known problem..
Everything was said with a smile, out of hope and recommendation 🙂

  18. Do you think this is an important opinion? After all, we are talking about spiritual nonsense there. There is no connection between one sentence and another.

  19. the source and its homes,

I replied earlier and the reply disappeared so I will try again.
It's ridiculous that every time people like you come along who present theories with nothing but a shred of support and in the second step they immediately lash out at the dark scientists who are captive to thinking inside the box. After all, you express your opinion on scientific lectures, Niha. But the decisive assertions that come without any support that scientists are afraid to touch any subject??!? Scientists trapped in concepts? Does it seem to you that all the amazing technological change we are going through in the last hundred years, from horses we jumped to horses and a life expectancy of 45 we reached 80, stems from thinking fixed in a box?
It is very easy to come up with ideas like the source's and they do not indicate any incredible mental openness: "Is it possible that there is an external factor that uses the solar system for example and regulates it and causes these eruptions out of desire?" Yes, it is possible, but very unlikely in light of the vast amount of knowledge that has been accumulated so far. Yes, it is also possible that Jupiter is being pushed by a flying spaghetti monster, of course it is possible, but unlikely in light of the extensive knowledge we have accumulated. do you understand
You want to come up with ideas, base them on observations, experiments. Make predictions in light of the ideas and then you can claim feasibility or impossibility.

  20. Nimrod,

Yesterday, Channel 10 news showed photos from the storm. I have no idea if the storm continues, but it must have started.

  21. the source,

    I liked!
Because this is also my opinion, and you formulated the topic in short and to the point!

  22. Yehuda

The sun cannot advance its inflation, it depends on the "fuel tank" it has left (the hydrogen)

  23. I hear lectures by scientists, calculations, ideas, theories, etc.. but I don't know many who are able to think outside the box about truth.. the so routine thinking patterns from a system of many years of learning determines most of them and unfortunately no one looks carefully at the ideas Maybe in a raw way they are seen as primitive but when you process them you realize that a whole treasure lies in them...! One way or another, whoever did not understand what the sun is in its essential aspect due to the fear of mystical and primitive concepts and therefore remains fixated only in the field of physiological insight and the chemical processes that take place. At the root of the forces that operate in the actual formation of the things themselves and not in their origin and their roots... I do not strive for different beliefs and opinions, but is it possible that there is an external factor that uses the solar system for example and regulates it and causes these eruptions out of desire? Is there an intelligent system other than the intelligent system we know .. we all like to ask these questions and look for an intelligent life outside the range of life we are familiar with .. we like to follow the end that is perceived by us as an end .. but we never thought to look at the essence and meaning that is given to things as a result of that Essence if indeed there is a factor that constitutes the whole campaign in all its series .. I know that the scientific world is very afraid of touching this niche because of being carried away by religious and mystical positions .. which really are taking us backwards .. but there are things that are worth taking a risk if you are stable and strong enough in your spirit and in your mind .. and don't be tempted by the propagators of religious opinions and the like .. the reason that comes from our very being is powerful .. our cognitive abilities communicate over vast distances far beyond ordinary thought .. just as an eye is not an eye and an ear is not an ear in their outward appearance so a sun is not a sun and eruptions in the sun are not Such on the outside... you need to start learning to read the map correctly... and also dare to think outside the schematic box...

  24. Hello Avi, I live in the south of Sweden and I wouldn't want to miss the phenomenon. The thing is, I didn't understand if it was going to happen tonight between the 25th and 26th or if it already happened the night before.

  25. Give me an unlimited budget like the big news sites and I can update 20 news a day. That way we won't miss anything.
Once I have to work for others and all the writers are volunteers, I have to limit the number of updates.

  26. The end of the world is coming.
The sun is going to shed 6 percent of its mass in our direction in XNUMX months.
Everything will be gone in an hour

  27. Why is there no news about the CME when it is on its way to us but only after it has arrived?
Maybe the science readers would have avoided the sun on this day? 🙂

  28. Let's hope the sun didn't advance its inflation by five billion years.
So….. Maybe the Maya were right after all?
    Whatever will be, will be!
    Good night
    Sabdarmish Yehuda
