The Jamon company is a famous producer of pork thighs in Spain, and it prides itself on the quality culinary experience it provides to the Spanish nation. For this purpose, the company's employees are required to have great expertise in sorting meat based on appearance, smell, color, weight and other parameters. But the most important parameter is the amount of water in the meat - an essential detail that the human eye cannot measure.

In order to preserve meat in an optimal way, it must be ensured that the amount of water that remains after several months of preservation will be a specified amount. The quality of the process is determined by the amount of water, the final product must not be too dry nor too wet. This is precisely where a technology developed for the space industry and adapted to society's requirements by the European Space Agency comes into play.

The technology was originally developed to measure the displacement of fluids in the bodies of astronauts when they are exposed to changes in gravity. Using a low electric current that passes through the astronaut's body allows scientists to analyze the physiological state of the body and learn about the changes that occur in it following the changes in gravity.

The technology was adapted to the food industry to accurately measure the amount of water in the meat and was integrated into the production lines of the Spanish company. Meat that does not meet desired water levels is automatically transferred to secondary production lines for the preparation of alternative products.

The use of advanced technologies makes it possible to save time, increases effectiveness and productivity, maintains high quality and provides customers with better produce at a cheaper price. According to the company, since the implementation of space technologies, sales turnover has increased by 3% per year and the company has been able to maintain a high quality of its food products.

The above example demonstrates once again how investments in the field of space develop technologies that are applied in late stages in all areas of our lives. The European Space Agency operates Program Special for the transfer of space technologies to European citizens (ESA's Technology Transfer Programme). According to them, with the help of the right approach and creative thinking, most space developments can be integrated into the industry.

  1. Keep science for promotion, not suppression.
All the more so for such a shocking oppression of the animals.

  2. I personally imagine that in the picture there is a vegetarian who is shedding his skin... it makes me both happy in the heart and appetizing!!!

  3. Name:
If you asked seriously then I will answer you that I don't care and it disgusts me as well (the truth is that the whole topic of killing animals for food disgusts me even without the picture).
Are you trying to conduct a survey here?
By the way, I am not claiming that because it disgusts me it should be censored.
On the contrary! I hope that more people will understand what is happening here and there are those whose imagination is not enough for them.

  4. My people, the vast majority of carnivores in the western world keep a screen in front of their eyes, to hide the ugly reality.
Your response shows that you are familiar with that screen and even willing to put it down for a moment and that's admirable, but since you put the screen down, even for a short time, you're in trouble, because now you'll have to pick it back up to eat your lunch.

  5. As an obligate carnivore, I find sense in the words of the Straw Man and Dan Solo. But I have to admit I didn't even think about it for a second until I read their talkbacks.

  6. Indeed, pork is only an industrial product produced on a production line with the help of modern technology,
Not an intelligent animal with a desire for freedom and life that can feel pain, distress and suffering.

  7. I wonder how the picture in the article affects a typical vegan person.
It made me a little disgusted.
