As part of his win, Prof. Tsavan will be the guest of honor of the Faculty of Chemistry at the Technion in the next academic year and will lecture about his research to faculty members and students from all fields
Prof. Aryeh Tsavan, the vice president for research, won the 15th prize for the year 2016/17 on behalf of the Technion for his research in the fields of electrochemistry, batteries and the development of materials for various energy applications.
The announcement was made this week by Prof. Noam Adir, Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry at the Technion. The award committee noted in the reasons for the award the extraordinary ability of Prof. Aryeh Tsavan to combine scientific excellence with applied and industrial activity and with personal involvement in the management of the research.
The Kolthoff Prize is awarded annually by the Schulich Faculty of Chemistry at the Technion to an outstanding Israeli research chemist outside the Technion for excellence in chemistry research. Previous award winners include Israel's top chemists. The award is funded by funds from a fund established by the late Prof. Kolthoff.
