Al Gore and the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) won the Nobel Peace Prize. This is what the Nobel Peace Prize Committee announced this morning - which is the only committee that is based in Oslo, Norway and not in Stockholm, Sweden. The award committee announced that the award was given half to Gore and the organization for their efforts to build and spread knowledge about man-made climate change and to lay the infrastructure for taking the necessary steps to reverse the change.

It is also written in the committee's reasoning that "the future changes in the climate must be treated with all seriousness. Extensive weather changes may threaten the living conditions of most of humanity. They could lead to large-scale migration and increase competition for the Earth's resources. These changes will impose a particularly heavy burden on the vulnerable countries in the world, and the danger of violent conflicts and wars between and within countries."

Wikipedia Gor is described as someone who often acts and lectures on environmental protection, and in 2006 he starred in the documentary film "A Disturbing Truth" dealing with global warming. The film, produced by Paramount and directed by Davis Guggenheim, won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Film and an additional award for Best Theme Song. The film is largely based on a multimedia presentation that Gore developed over several years as part of his campaign to stop global warming. Dead Disturbing is also the name of the book by Gore that accompanies the film. The book spent several months at the top of the New York Times bestseller list.

The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2006, and was released in the United States on May 12 of that year. The film now ranks third on the list of the highest-grossing documentaries of all time in the United States. Gore himself and Paramount Studios, which distributes the film, have pledged to give a percentage of the profits to the continued promotion of public education about global warming.

The film includes many sections directed against the critics who claim that global warming is unproven or unimportant. For example, he discusses the danger of the melting of the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets, which could raise seas around the world by 6 meters, which would flood many coastal areas and create about 100 million refugees. Melting ice water from Greenland can also affect the major currents in the ocean and result in a rapid and dramatic cooling of northern Europe.

In an effort to explain the warming phenomenon, the film presents information on temperature and annual levels of carbon dioxide over the past 600,000 years obtained from Antarctic ice cores.

The film ends with Gore saying that if we act quickly we can reverse the effects of global warming by releasing less carbon dioxide into the air and planting trees and plants. Gore urges viewers to visit the film's website and learn how they can help in the field.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change or IPCC was established in 1988 by two United Nations organizations - the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) to assess the risk of human-caused climate change. The panel bases its publications mainly on published or peer-reviewed scientific or technical works. The panel is open to all members of both organizations.

The reports of the IPCC are widely cited in almost every discussion concerning climate change. National and international responses to climate change usually refer to the UN International Panel as an authoritative and reliable source.

The award committee noted the intergovernmental panel of the United Nations for publishing many reports on the subject. These reports established that there is a connection between human actions and weather changes. In this context, the committee noted the activity of the 2,500 scientists and officials from 130 countries in the world who are members of the panel and are active in the matter.

Rajendra Pashwari, who heads the intergovernmental panel, said in response to the joint win with Gore that "I can't believe it, (I'm) shocked. I feel privileged to share the award with a distinguished person like him. I believe this will bring the issue to the fore."

Commentary - Dr. Assaf Rosenthal

The awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to the person who was the vice president of the USA, to the person who lost the presidential election to a "cowboy" who was carried on the shoulders of industrial companies is an encouragement to all the "greens" in the entire world.

Following Al-Gour's blessed activity for the quality of the environment, an activity that was not always sustainable (for example the criticism of the energy consumption on his farm, and his many flights that added to the environmental damage) but always attracted attention, always received extensive exposure and caused and greatly intensified the growing awareness of the need To protect the environment among the general public, but perhaps more importantly among the authorities, governments and even among industrial companies.

In previous lists I mentioned the fact that public opinion in the US is increasingly leaning in favor of the Greens, a tendency that is understood and therefore also adopted by those who want to come to power. Even if in Al-Gor's activity there is a hint of an attempt to pry on certain hairs in order to acquire an electorate; Even if the act is not only done with the sole intention of protecting the environment; Even if the intention is impure (some claim), the result of al-Gur's actions so far is positive and even more important.

The Nobel Prize committee's recognition of the importance of his actions, but more than that - the honorable committee's recognition of the importance of the subject is a shot of encouragement and brings closer the chance of a natural and clean environment, an environment that will allow all biological diversity to exist in it, including the human race. And for that, cheers to the committee and cheers to Al-Gor.

  1. To the doctor at night
The problem is that the earth is sicker than me...and the cure is to thin out the population on its surface!
Just like a fat person has to lose weight or not be... except that on earth fat people have names, hopes, ambitions, an agenda and above all a voice to vote in their own favor!
The novel in this matter will not be useful as in other cases.. the amount of people has long passed all reasonable limits and therefore it is like cupping a terminally ill person (the earth).. it will not harm but it will not really be useful either!
I got a very serious response. Add the jokes yourself, I approve!

  2. This is what happens when one species takes over the world!!
It turns out that nature has failed in its ability to "dilute" humanity, which today I think is in excess of 5.5 billion people!
There is probably no way out of this because of political concerns... where will we reduce it? The password should be two minus one, thus reducing by half in each generation, but it is clear to all of us that this will not happen and the person will eat himself to the last crumb!
In fact, man can be treated as a species that has become a virus like the plague of locusts .. it will finish off the fish and the plants, ruin the climate and die in an atomic explosion for the glory of generations to come!
What calms me is 2012!! More precisely 21.12.2012 according to one of the books on this date everything is going to change!! It's a shame that I'm of little faith, but you don't have to be!.. It's interesting that there are always such future dates.. But in the year XNUMX, the world stock market fell and, above all, the high-tech bubble burst (much to my delight)! At the end of the year, the very surprising Al-Aqsa Intifada began! And all this was a promo for the fall of the Twin Towers!!
So maybe all these are just a prelude to what is going to happen in 2012??
You will see that next year they will start talking about it in the media and of course it will increase as we get closer (the news in the media)!
It's less stressful for me today than when I was vigilantly following the millennium! What should worry everyone is the return of Ehud Barak to the arena (father of the Al-Aqsa Intifada)..but that's how fate works..we will calmly wait for the change with plenty of crackers and drinking and it's not worth getting caught without them because fate sees it as disrespecting him and his existence!
    2012!! are you ready ??
By the way, does anyone have another date when fate is expected to visit our balls?
