The best managers are aged 50-60.

The age at which managers show the highest professional vitality at work is in their sixth decade of life (between the ages of 50-59), according to a new study conducted at the University of Haifa that examined managers from the fields of high-tech, engineering and infrastructure. "In recent years, the issue of employing older people is repeatedly on the agenda. The findings of the study show that when it comes to vitality, age has a significant relationship," stated Dr. Shmuel Grimland, Prof. Yehuda Baruch and Prof. Eran Vigoda-Gadot, the study's editors.

Vitality at work is defined as the ability to perform tasks with enthusiasm, liveliness and vigor, while demonstrating skills and abilities and with the satisfaction that comes from an appreciation of the employee's performance ability. In the current study, which is based on Dr. Grimland's doctoral thesis under the guidance of Prof. Vigoda-Gadot and Prof. Yehuda Baruch from the School of Economics at the French University of Rouen (Rouen Business School), the researchers asked to examine which factors affect vitality at work and whether it has any effect on the career 545 managers from high-tech, engineering and infrastructure companies, from the private and public sectors, participated in the study. The managers came from the entire management spectrum - from managers of a single project to senior managers of the company.

The findings show that as the vitality at work increases, so does the ability to mobilize personal resources to succeed at work and thus the commitment to work increases. Also, there is a positive relationship between vitality at work and the organizational rank, so the more vitality an employee has, the higher his position in the organization. Similar positive relationships were also found between vitality and satisfaction with career and life in general. It was also found that as vitality increases, the desire to leave work decreases.

After finding the effects of vitality on various aspects of a career, the researchers wanted to check whether there is a relationship between age and vitality and found that there is a relationship in the form of an inverted saddle (∩) so that as age increases, so does the level of vitality at work and it is at its peak in the decade between 50-59, when The peak, in the current sample, was 57. After that, the level of vitality of the employees begins to decline.

"Our research shows that providing tools to improve the vitality of employees will significantly improve employee satisfaction and help create creative and innovative employees, so this should be a high priority in the organization. It can be said that the vitality of employees serves as 'fuel' for the success of the organization. The fact that the vitality of work is maintained and even increases until the late fifties shows that organizations that invest in this issue will benefit from highly productive employees for many years", concluded the researchers.

  1. The traditional social thinking placed elderly vitals in a lower position than other workers. There is no doubt that this article expresses the current reality, where life expectancy is longer, health is maintained through better medicines than before. The quality of life has increased due to the awareness of proper nutrition combined with physical and cognitive activity. The older person is mentally free and focused on motivation to give the best at work. He has great abilities in growing up.
Here there is a different social thinking that may bring a socio-economic solution to a society that faces problems of overpopulation and a growing lack of resources. The retirement age of 65 was correct during Bismarck's time when people lived on average until the age of 50. Neuroscientists talk about a reality of 110 years of life and in the near future about age 130. In other words, the older segment of society must be productive so that society can exist. The data in the article confirm that this is possible.

  2. You repeat the same things.
Yesterday, when I honked at you at the intersection, did that solve anything? The only thing it has changed is the fact that you feel less alone in this campaign.
But it did not and will not solve the problem.
Protesting and shouting at passers-by will not help you change the laws of the country.
If you "take this protest to the limits of the house of the law" maybe then you will be able to change something in the law itself, or within the limits of the house. Politics keeps people like you away from the border so you don't change it. suckers

  3. Regarding "what needs to be done":
These are the same things that are done all the time. The same things these people have been doing for many years.
Once they have become professional and they know the job well, they perform it no less well than others.
But precisely then, after they have become professional, they are considered too old and then the employer is not interested in them.

    Regarding the organization:
In my opinion, the change in the employment conditions of workers is an integral part of the things that the social protest is busy with. The terms of employment of the employees should also include the issue of employing older workers. Of course, this is not inconsistent with older workers being able to organize and take care of themselves.

  4. Today in the State of Israel it is very difficult to become an employer.
You need a lot of money to start a business.
State laws "suffocate" small businesses that are just starting out and are barely standing on chicken knees.
The Israeli economy is very far from meeting the conditions of a competitive free economy.
This is a very difficult problem.

The social protest arose from this and other things related to it.

  5. OK.
Look, the elders - with all their knowledge and experience - can become employers of those people who have the skills, how come they don't have the job. Do you understand? (And vice versa, the 'unemployed' can hire the 'old man')

The problem is the work itself. What is the work that the elders and that group of people should do?
If you find a solution to the problem of "what needs to be done" you can implement it by using exactly the same group of people (elderly, unemployed people aged 40-65), with their talents and abilities, to solve the problem.
Today there is no one to do the work. I invite you to take this idea and apply it yourself. You can establish a body that will handle all these matters. (Unify all these people, and work for their well-being. I'm sure you will also benefit from this).

  6. A) According to what I know, the employment of pensioners is legal!
    b) I meant older people who have not yet reached retirement age. Such people usually contribute a lot to society. The problem is that the employers think they are too old. Many of the unemployed are over 40 but below retirement age. And this is despite the great contribution they can make.
Something is not working properly in the employment system.
There are a lot of talented old people who have already passed the retirement age. They can contribute a lot but no one counts them.
Of course they can't do hard physical work. But they can certainly contribute in many different areas.

  7. ב
(I'm not too familiar with the details):
If and according to the laws it will be possible to employ a person (pensioner, over the age of 65-67), take care of his well-being as a full-time employee in the business, and that all of this will also be financially profitable for the business owner.... Can definitely bring change in the world of pensioners. (Similar to what is done with intellectual moguls. That is, integrating them into a work framework)

My question is do you know a business like this?
I think if you find out what the elders are good at, and you can apply it to the business (as I described above), then maybe it will help the company. (By the way, I've been thinking about this topic for quite some time, and I'm glad you brought it up because it's an important topic that affects everyone)

  8. the laugh of fate:
A person studies for many years.
Working for many years in a meaningless Sisyphean job.
When he finally becomes a professional and can really make a great contribution to society: then he is already too old!!

  9. This is not so surprising, at the age of fifty - sixty, the children are already grown, and the employee can concentrate more on work and less on the family

  10. The question arises why vitality is at its peak in this age range? Why does it decrease (simply because they get older is not an answer, not learned in any way)
