Why does the orchid bee work harder than the honey bee and why is it worthwhile for her
As anyone who has had a fruit smoothie knows, it's hard to drink with a thick sediment straw. The orchid bee faces the same problem as it tries to draw nectar through its long proboscis (stalk).
According to a study published in the May issue of the journal American Naturalist, the insect consumes and consumes the nectar slowly, 5 times slower than the honey bee for example. It turns out that there is a reward for this hard work of pumping the liquid through the long stem. The long-tubed tropical flowers that the orchid bee controls offer 10 times more nectar than the flowers that other bees feed on. And perhaps because the nectar is located too deep for other species of bees to reach, orchid bees can afford to take their time and linger on each flower 5 times longer than other bees.

First of all there are some fans, they write from different IP addresses. I already deleted someone's comment that had three words in it, something along the lines of some boring article. There is nothing to do, not everyone is interested in all topics. It's not tactful to say it that way. If only articles on a certain topic will be published on the site, let's say - quantum physics (which is not Gilat's field), then those who like articles on evolution will leave. That's how I make sure that over time, every topic will be represented, of course according to the news in the field.
And if someone writes a good article in quantum physics (or even translates from websites that publish popular science articles under the rights restriction), they will be welcomed.
A fan, maybe you will write an article about quantum physics? Even a short article. After all, what is an article about something as simple as that to you? You are not a lover, no way.
To Mr. Blizovsky: What about censorship of comments?
There is no such thing as worthless knowledge, provided it is true.
Don't get excited by silly antics. Although according to the website I expected to find more information about the differences between the bees, but it is still interesting information, short and to the point. Thanks!
What a bore, if your plants, go to botany websites, you're already tired of these worthless articles, think about quantum physics, you know how many comments it will bring you, Lolev!!!
