A new service for cancer patients will connect them with researchers and current research

Entrepreneur Nir Erez: Every year in Israel about 11,000 people die of cancer and between 25,000 and 30,000 new cancer patients are diagnosed. In total, there are over 100,000 cancer patients in Israel who are treated by only 240 oncologists under a huge burden and an acute lack of standards. Patients must be aware of the situation and take responsibility for managing the disease.

A new service - TRIAL-IN Pharma - helps cancer patients find and receive treatments that are at the forefront of science in addition to the standard protocols offered to them. Access to these treatments, some of which have been defined as 'groundbreaking' by the health authorities, such as the FDA, is made possible mainly in research and compassion frameworks all over the world. Through the service, the patient can receive these treatments today, for free, and with the chance to profit from them years before they are approved and available in the health basket. The service continues with the professional-medical accompaniment of the patient and the oncologist, until the treatment is obtained anywhere and from anywhere in the world.

The service was initiated by Nir Erez, Has extensive background and knowledge in the field of cancer, many years of familiarity with oncologists and the various treatments. By Nir's side in the service, a team of senior oncologists. According to him, it is not new that the health system has reached the limit of its capacity, and despite its efforts, the plight of cancer patients screams to the sky and they don't even know it. We know for sure that additional treatments can be offered to patients so that our service continues to the limit.

Nir updates that the latest data published by the Ministry of Health shows that there are over 100,000 cancer patients living today and 25,000-30,000 new cancer patients are diagnosed every year. At the same time, about 11,000 patients die a year in Israel, and only about 240 oncologists deal with this situation. The enormous burden on the oncologists and the support system impairs the ability to meet the needs of the patients, and those for their part should know that they must act to obtain information about additional treatments available around the world, including Israel. They must not miss 'under the radar' treatments that could suit them better than any other treatment and when they have this information, they will choose the best treatment with the oncologist.

The service that Trail In Pharma offers is a personalized test for research and compassion in Israel and around the world. Thorough navigation work in an ocean of over 70,000 studies registered in the world in the field of cancer and is done under a strict quality control process. Later, Trail-in Pharma accompanies the relationship with the pharmaceutical companies and medical centers, until the treatment is received. Nir emphasizes that cancer is a complex disease and each patient has a unique treatment resulting from his specific type of tumor, the biological profile of the tumor, surgeries, previous treatments and more. The patients are not 'copy and paste' each other even if it is the same type of cancer. Therefore, the service clarifies and reinforces the selection of the most appropriate treatment for the patient. The oncologist has a central role in choosing the treatment for the patient when the goals of the treatment are to save life, prolong life and maintain a good quality of life for the patient.

Nir emphasizes that the medical system in Israel is only exposed to about 2% of the open cancer studies in the world. The experience in Pharma Trail shows that personalized information about research and compassionate treatments can serve as a platform for obtaining the treatments even outside these frameworks. "The success in finding treatments in Israel and around the world for dozens of cancer patients who have contacted us so far is 100 percent."

Nir Erez, 49, CEO and founder of the service with a unique background and experience in Israel in the field of cancer since 2003. After graduating from chemistry studies, he worked at the pharmaceutical giant Roche Pharmaceuticals, whose center of activity is cancer. In 2013 he founded an independent business that provides services in the management of clinical studies. 7 years ago, he lost his mother to cancer. Nir realized too late that there may have been other treatments in the world that he didn't know about, with a chance to prolong her life and maybe even save her. Following this feeling of being missed, he founded Trail-In Pharma with the goal of helping cancer patients in their fight against the disease and turn every stone for them.

  1. Hahahahaha on the website it appears that he has accompanied 6000 patients and only 4 recommendations....interesting

  2. We are being worked on and by and large, the only ones who are making money on us are these companies

  3. The time has really come for oncology patients to receive a variety of treatments that will prolong their lives. Life-saving treatments. Chemotherapy is a poison to the body that also damages healthy cells with many side effects that can cause those patients irreversible damage, such as damage to the memory cell in the brain, dementia and other irreversible damage.

Maybe it is a good idea to replace some of the medicines in the health care basket, but this will result in an increase in taxes, and damage to public health. I think most drug users are people who don't have excess money, and they are the ones who will hurt. I agree with you that it is possible to transfer money from the security budget to health, just as it is possible to transfer budgets from the Ministry of Religion, Interior, Justice, Culture, Transportation, Employment and so on.

Please explain to me exactly what power the Ministry of Health has against the pharmaceutical manufacturers? Even so - the drugs in Israel are significantly cheaper than drugs in the USA.

  5. Regarding the basket, it's just a matter of priorities
    for example:
Medicines that do not save lives should be removed from the basket instead of those that save lives.
It should be budgeted from other government ministries even at the expense of the defense budget because it saves lives no less than other security measures.

The health authorities have a lot of power against the manufacturers of the drugs, only because of the fear of lawsuits and the need for undercovers for the officials of the ministry, it is used in a crooked way that causes prices to rise instead of the other way around.
The health authorities should unite to fight this extortion of prices, the bureaucracy that delays the approval of drugs that save lives should be shortened (as the FDA once did with HIV drugs).
If drugs are approved in Israel in a shortened process than is customary abroad, then it will be possible to get drugs here cheaper, but for that the Ministry of Health needs bigger eggs. Today they are only trailing behind the European authorities and that too with great fear of their own shadow.

What is the cost of providing all these drugs, and where do you suggest they get the budget to cover this cost?

What is the way you propose to the Ministry of Health to compel foreign companies to lower prices?

  7. In my opinion - this issue that the health basket does not include life-saving drugs is a scandal.
Criteria should have been established for a life-saving drug whose effectiveness has been proven, and the system required to provide all these life-saving drugs for free to every patient immediately without waiting for the basket.
At the same time check why drug companies extort prices, and oblige them to supply the drugs at reasonable prices.
