Curious children: we are trying to contact aliens - but do they want to contact us?

"Humans have been trying to contact aliens for many years, but do the aliens want to contact us?" asks Shoal Sai, eight years old, London, UK

That's a great question - and the truth is we don't know the answer.

We haven't found aliens yet, so we haven't been able to ask them and get an answer. When we try to answer the question "do they want to contact us", we have to put ourselves in their shoes - that is, of course, if they have legs.

The question assumes that aliens do exist. And again, since we haven't found any yet, we don't know if they do. It is possible that they may exist, for one simple reason: we exist. Whatever caused bacteria to evolve into complex bodies with intelligent brains on Earth, this process could have occurred on another planet as well.

On Earth this change appears to have occurred rather abruptly about 700 million years ago. At that time the Earth was already almost 4 billion years old, and it had been inhabited by simple life forms like bacteria for most of that time. Why didn't this happen sooner? And what made it happen? Until we find the answers to these questions we cannot know what the chances are that this happened in other places as well.

If there are aliens out there, they may want to contact us for the same reasons we want to contact them.

One of the reasons why scientists on Earth look for aliens is that we are curious. We want to know if they exist, what they look like and what our relationship with them might look like. Curiosity is a powerful force, leading us to look beyond the horizon and try new things. This is how we developed science and technology, and thanks to them we can have video calls with friends on the other side of the world and we can fly into space. Aliens may be curious about us too.

But there are other reasons why we want to contact others. Sometimes we needed help from others, or friendship. Maybe even aliens will seek help or friendship with us.

They may also be interested in our planet. Earth has perfect conditions for life. Aliens may need another home if for some reason – such as climate change, nuclear war or a powerful asteroid impact – they are forced to leave their planet.

It is also possible that they will not seek friendship. There are many examples from our history of times when humans roamed the earth and brutalized, killed or enslaved the people who lived there. Aliens settling on Earth may fear interference from us. There is another reason - humans are predators that eat other life forms. Aliens may also find us nutritious or tasty.

These are all possible reasons why aliens would want to contact us. But what if not? To what extent might aliens find us boring, difficult to understand, too primitive to be worthy of their attention, or potentially diseased? Conversations across space take many years and last much longer. Some aliens may simply not be interested in life beyond their own world.

On the other hand, it could be that life like ours is actually very common. With so many worlds and cultures to choose from, maybe we just haven't caught their eye yet. If that's the case, we may soon spot aliens ourselves on planets orbiting nearby stars.

  1. Intelligent non-human extraterrestrial civilizations have been accompanying the human race for eons. There are many testimonies about meetings with them and in most cases the experiences are positive and related to the development of personal and collective consciousness.
In a study by the FREE organization in which thousands of people around the world participated who experienced various types of encounters with non-human intelligent beings. The vast majority (over 80%) of those surveyed reported positive experiences in meetings that affected their lives in a positive way. I recommend reading:

Encounters of the fifth type (5-CE) are an initiative to create communication of humans with non-human intelligent cultures, based on connecting to the one consciousness present in all through the rules of the communication protocol developed by Dr. Stephen Greer.
The purpose of the groups is to practice the CE-5 protocol to create respectful and reciprocal communication with non-human intelligent cultures.
As part of the group's activities, we share experiences and photographs of meetings of the fifth kind in Israel and around the world.
