Prof. Zohar Yosivash from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Ben-Gurion University, recently received a special recognition from the Munich University of Technology (one of the leading universities in Germany), thanks to his scientific contribution in the field of computational biomechanics in the field of bones. Prof. Zohar Yosivash was awarded the status of Senior Fellow at the Institute of Advanced Study of the German University - The Hans Fischer Senior Fellow at the Institute of Advanced Study - TUM

As part of his membership in the institution, he received a generous research grant, which will be used, among other things, for a stay of one year cumulatively over the next three years at the Technical University of Munich. During this period, he will deepen the collaboration with his colleague Prof. Ernst Rank, mentor with him two doctoral students who will carry out the doctoral thesis under joint academic sponsorship with Ben-Gurion University, and create collaborations with other faculty members at the Munich University of Technology.
Part of Prof. Zohar Yosibash's research activity is focused on simulating the biomechanical response of tissues such as bones and arteries in humans (Computational Biomechanics).

Using methods to process information from non-invasive tests such as CT. And MRI, using high-order finite element methods (computational mechanics) Prof. Yosivash and the research students led by him, may receive information of great importance for clinical treatments of diseases such as osteoporosis or in surgical processes to replace the head of a femur. These new methods together with biomechanical experiments on human tissues performed at the same time as the verification of the imaging provide doctors with a deep understanding of the patient's pathological condition and enable optimal treatment that is not available today.

Each year, four international researchers known in their field are selected as Hans Fischer Senior Fellows, and Prof. Yosivash is the first Israeli to win it.

  1. As for the current knowledge, we will not be forgotten but abandoned, more appropriate. I guess they knew he was there but didn't want to invest money in rescuing him. my organs
