Will embryonic stem cell banks open a new type of account? Researchers from Japan said this weekend that they succeeded in producing stem cells from tissues taken from a displaced wisdom tooth of a 10-year-old girl. The researchers said that their work shows that a wisdom tooth can be a suitable alternative to human embryos as a source of stem cells for healing. The researchers involved in the stem cell research said that these stem cells have the potential to treat many serious diseases, however the use of embryonic stem cells may entail ethical problems.

The researchers from the Advanced Institute of Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) in Japan said that it will take at least five years before their discovery can be used for medical applications. Stem cells with the ability to develop into any type of human cells and, among other things, they will be able to help cure cancer and diabetes.

The researchers from AIST stated that they have identified a type of stem cells in a wisdom tooth, which have the ability to develop and grow successfully into any type of cell, outside the body. The collected cells continued to grow in the lab for over a month, they said. The head of the group, Hajami Ogushi, told the BBC website that the research was significant in two ways. "First, we can avoid the ethical problems associated with stem cells because wisdom teeth are an unnecessary organ that should be disposed of anyway. And secondly, we use stem cells that were produced years ago and kept in a freezer. This means that it is easy for us to maintain this source of stem cells.”

According to the researchers, in the US, dentists already offer the possibility of storing stem cells from wisdom teeth and milk teeth - another potential source, for medical uses in the future. Last year, a team of scientists from the US and Japan announced their success in extracting stem cells from skin cells.

  1. This is not a matter of custom - according to the Hebrew Academy of Languages, when you translate a language that originates from Israel into Hebrew, then the law is as follows:
th – converted to the letter 'th'
    t- converted to letter 't'

    ethical —> ethical
    mathematics

    That's the law.
    Glad I could help

  2. A "wisdom" tooth, and "milk" teeth: indeed, everything is returning, little by little, to its origin, its root, its race, and its "ethical" legality...the required one.
Whether we like it or not, time does its thing. And the clock of fate around us, and the north in us, is ticking.

And on this it was said: "Dante's Divine Comedy"..in the style of contemporary progress.

And by the way, for those on the site who have not yet chosen a desired profession, now is the time..ha..ha

  3. Although the origin of the word is in Lez, but in Hebrew it is customary to write "etiyot" and not "etiyot"
