In a rare gesture yesterday, representatives of the Technion in the USA (ATS) opened trading on Nasdaq. The president of the Association of Technion Applicants in New York, Stanley Shirvan, who was honored at the opening of trading, said that more than 80% of the Israeli companies traded on the American Stock Exchange were founded and managed by Technion graduates. He emphasized that since 1940 the Technion applicants in the USA have raised more than a billion dollars, through the 17 branches spread across the USA.
This is one of the rare times that the leading and most important exchange in the world honors a non-profit organization at the opening of trading. Before the event, Nasdaq leaders screened films about the Technion in Times Square in New York.
