Tel Aviv University ranks 21st in the world in registering patents in the field of biotechnology

The university is ranked 5th among non-American universities

Tel Aviv University is in 21st place among universities in the world in registering patents in the USA in the field of biotechnology. This is according to the ranking of the prestigious Milken Institute in Los Angeles, California.

The study examined, using a number of indicators, the success of universities around the world in the transfer of research in the various fields of biotechnology from the academic laboratory to the business space. The study examined the number of patents registered in the US by the various universities in the years 2000-2004, the degree of influence of these patents on the development of biotechnology in the world, and the degree of scientific innovation underlying the patents received.

From a selected group of 100 universities examined in the study, Tel Aviv University is placed 21st, taking the fifth place among the non-American universities in the group.
