Today was the second spacewalk of mission STS-129. Astronauts Mike Forman and Randy Breznik stepped outside the space station for a mission that lasted about six hours.

The two installed an adapter for the equipment towing facility on the outside of Columbia Lab. The adapter known as GATOR contained a set of antennas for tracking the station and an amateur radio antenna. They replaced a broken measuring unit designed to measure the accumulated electric charge on the outer side of the station, installed an attached system for storing equipment on the space-facing side of the S3 component, and installed a wireless video system that allows the spacewalkers to transmit video to the station and transmit it to Earth.

The spacewalk was shortened by thirty minutes so that the astronauts could catch up on sleep following a false alarm on the night between Friday and Saturday. The canceled missions were those intended to prepare the system for repairs in the next spacewalks and can be postponed.
