In Spain they banned broadcasting mysticism programs

Spanish TV approved rules against "poor programs"

Spain's public radio and television approved last Thursday (21/10/2004) 24 rules against "poor" programs, following criticism that spread throughout the country. According to the new rules, programs that harm people's dignity will not be broadcast. The rules also prohibit the "unnecessary" presentation of violence and sexual deviations. The newspaper "El Pais" reported that the public television network RTVE decided to prevent the broadcast of programs centered on magical and supernatural content.

In doing so, RTVE responded to the widespread criticism leveled in Spain on private and public television channels, and especially on gossip programs that spread rumors about celebrities. Also, fortune tellers and hypnotists were presented in many Melal programs. Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodríguez Spatero pledged to put an end to "junk television", and the Spanish government met this week with representatives of the television channels.

And in Israel - mystical programs are broadcast almost unhindered and without criticism on all regional radio stations, and when I complained to the administration of the second authority about a transmitter where a mystic suggests to the listener to divorce her husband based only on his date of birth, they didn't even understand what the problem was. Really, these are 'acceptable' programs.

Not to mention that during the midnight program on the main network of the State Broadcasting Authority, the broadcaster announced that 'during the program we will talk with a physicist who proved the existence of a creator of the world', and Miriam Binyamini who stars (literally) in the cultural program 'What will happen?' And of course the TV talk shows are full of mystics, especially in the morning.
And of course scientifically oriented programs are not part of the tender conditions for Channel 2. At least the fact that a survey conducted by a Kaan company, one of the contestants in the renewed tender for Channel XNUMX, shows that the public is less stupid than it seems and very high percentages wanted to see more documentaries and enrichment films is encouraging. We will see if any of the winners will apply this figure in the field.

For all the postmodernists who try to claim that the truth is somewhere and should not be fanatics, let's just remember that when the mystics ruled the world, in the Middle Ages, life expectancy deteriorated and the population was small compared to the heyday of the Roman Empire, which was founded on the culture of ancient Greece. Is a new Middle Ages exactly what we need?
Look what happens when modern weapons fall into the hands of irrational people who use them for particularly brutal terrorism. Do we need to encourage irrationality here too?
And for that, kudos to RTVE. I wish someone here would catch this idea and adopt it.
