Exclusive: For the first time in Israel, a startup company in the field of space

On the occasion of Space Week, we reveal the company Effective Space Solutions, which received SEED funding from the Genesis Angels Foundation and is recruiting engineers in space-related fields to develop systems that will increase the performance of small satellites and even dedicated satellites that will provide services to other satellites in orbit

The Effective Space Solutions company, which is the first space startup in Israel, started its activities these days and is working feverishly on developing a unique product that will change the performance and capabilities of small satellites. The company, founded and managed by Aryeh Halzband, former director of Bat-Hell, received initial funding from the Genesis Angles fund (known in Israel as the Singularity Fund and not related to the Genesis venture capital fund) in which Ehud Olmert and Yuval Rabin are partners, which invests in companies at the SEED stage.
The company's website defines its vision: "Effective Space Solutions is designed to solve traditional challenges faced by the space industry by combining leading methods and technologies from the high-tech industry."

In a conversation with the Hadaan website, Helzband states that he retired two years ago from the aerospace industry to establish the company. "The company has developed a unique technology of solar panels that is able to bring a lot of electricity to small satellites and at the same time develop uses that take advantage of these capabilities. The first satellite to take advantage of these capabilities will be a service satellite for geostationary satellites - mainly communication satellites located in the Clark Belt, an orbit 36 kilometers above the equator where they circle the earth at the same speed as its rotation speed around its axis and thus they are actually above a fixed point on the earth. Amos satellites are an example of this.

"The company intends to launch micro-satellites weighing about 180 kg per satellite into a transition orbit from a low altitude to a geosynchronous orbit where the initial altitude (the perigee) is about 300 kilometers (depending on the launcher) and the apogee (the highest point in the orbit) is 36 thousand kilometers. "Effective Space Solutions' service satellite will cruise from satellite to satellite that needs its service, provide the service and continue to the next communication satellite."

Halzband preferred not to specify the type of services, but noted that one of them is removing satellites that have ended their lives from the geostationary orbit where it interferes with placing a new satellite, to an orbit where it will not interfere.

Halzband: "We are growing and looking for engineers with a background in space: system engineering, mechanical engineering, system design, supplier and more. I estimate that we will reach close to 10 employees in the first year and then we will increase the team."
