More than 3,000 visitors participated in the "Smart Even at Night" events organized by the Davidson Institute for Science Education, which brings together the educational activities of the Weizmann Institute of Science. The visitors enjoyed a night of activities, demonstrations and guided tours in the Keller Science Garden, and in research laboratories and exhibition rooms throughout the campus of the Weizmann Institute of Science; Watch the "Foucault Pendulum" which proves that the Earth does rotate, visit the molecular theater which presents XNUMXD simulations of proteins, watch zebra fish and transgenic plants, see how an electron microscope and a particle accelerator work, and more.

The Nanocomics exhibition, a new series of comics, from the creator of the Weizmann Institute of Science, presenting scientific plots with a smile, was presented in the Weeks Hall. The creators of the series, Meir Goldberg, Bishem Azgad and Viniv Shimoni, met with the hundreds of visitors to the exhibition, and talked with them. The "Flying Egg" competition was held at the particle accelerator tower, which attracted - as every year - a large crowd of participants and spectators.

The Davidson Institute expanded the action of "wise men even at night" beyond the scope of the Weizmann Institute, and organized unmediated meetings with scientists and students in cafes in the cities adjacent to the Weizmann Institute, from Tel Aviv and Holon in the north to Ashdod in the south. The scientists and students talked with the visitors of the cafes about central questions that preoccupy the scientists working at the forefront of science today, and also about scientific issues that concern everyday life: What exactly is happening in the giant particle accelerator that was recently inaugurated in Geneva? Will a biological computer one day be able to roam inside our bodies and cure diseases? How does the brain "see" and "imagine"? and more.
