Four new R&D projects will receive support from the SIIRD fund

Among the projects: the development of a virtual mathematical game using XNUMXD technology and the development of a voice interface for mobile phones installed in vehicles

The Office of the Chief Scientist at the Ministry of Science and Technology announced that the Singapore-Israel Fund for Industrial R&D will finance four joint ventures for companies from Israel and Singapore in the field of information technologies, with a total budget of 2.8 million dollars. The beneficiary companies approved in the projects are (the Israeli company is noted first):

• The Center for Educational Technology (CET) and CANS7 from Singapore. The companies are cooperating in the development of a virtual mathematical game using XNUMXD technology, designed to encourage innovation, creativity, problem solving and other thinking abilities and intended for children in elementary schools.
• "SANTIAGA" and EXCELPOINT from Singapore will work together on the development of a speaker-independent voice interface for Bluetooth kits for mobile telephones installed in vehicles, the cost of which will be minimal.
• Eurotech Communication Ltd. and RFNET from Singapore will develop a product that will offer a connection option from a local network and a cellular or wireless network to the travel and public transportation market, such as tour operators, limousines, taxis and buses.
• "Hi-Check Control Ltd" and SENSIMESH from Singapore will develop a wireless measurement and control system of chemical and physical values ​​in liquids found in industrial processes.

The chief scientist, Dr. Eli Ofer, said that the approval of the projects also means the direct employment of 53 scientific researchers and engineers by the companies approved within the projects approved by the fund.

The CEO of the SIIRD Foundation, Mr. Chan Eng Chye said that "over the years, we have financed through the foundation many R&D projects, carried out by many companies for the purpose of developing better products. Through our support, we hope that many Singaporean companies will be interested in technological cooperation with companies from Israel. Such collaborations allow Singaporean companies to enter a high level of technologies and Israeli companies to expand their technological capabilities."

The manager of the fund in Israel, attorney Shirley Yarpa-Hasson, said that since its establishment in 1997, SIIRD has approved about 74 joint projects between Israeli and Singaporean companies. The total budget of the projects is about 76 million dollars, employing about 1150 development personnel, engineers and managers in Singapore and Israel. Adv. Medicine said that the fund is a "bridge to Asia" - with the completion of the project and the commercialization phase, Israeli companies can introduce their products to the markets in Southeast Asia, through the Singaporean partner. There is also the fund's financing of these projects while participating in the risk involved in R&D.

The next deadline for submitting projects to the SIIRD fund is June 2008.
