Why did the space shuttle Endeavor cross the road? To get to the museum at the California Science Center. On Friday at midnight local time, Endeavor began its 19-mile, two-day journey through the streets of Los Angeles from Los Angeles International Airport.

Along the route, thousands of people waited to witness the rare sight of a space shuttle crossing the roads and waited in the early hours of the morning to see the shuttle traveling at a speed of 3 km/h instead of the speed associated with it - 28 thousand km/h when it was in orbit around the Earth.

The photos were taken by Scott Maxwell, one of the Mars rover drivers working at JPL and who shared them with the Universe Today website. Although you don't see the ferry in motion, it made a lot of stops on the journey.
The municipality of Los Angeles had to cut down about 400 trees along the track's route as well as cut off the electricity to many houses, in places where there was a fear that it would damage power poles.
