China will tomorrow launch Shenzhou 11 with two taikonauts to its new space station

China's official news agency, Xinhua, Has announced Because the manned spacecraft Shenzhou 11 will be launched on Monday towards China's new space station, Tiangong 2, with two taikonauts (Chinese astronauts) on board.

Three years after China's last manned launch In 2013, China intends to return to space with the Shenzhou 11 spacecraft. China's sixth manned spacecraft will be launched tomorrow from the Jiuquan Spaceport in China's Gobi Desert. The spacecraft will be launched aboard the Long March 2F launcher on October 17 at 7:30 a.m. (local time; 2:30 a.m. Israel time). On board will be two Teknonauts, and they will be launched towards China's new space station, Tiangong 2, that was sent just last month

The technonauts selected for the mission are Jing Haifeng, who participated in the Shenzhou 7 space missions in 2008 and Shenzhou 9 in 2012, and Chen Dong, a pilot in the Chinese Air Force who was selected from the group of China's new astronauts selected for service in 2010.

After launch, the spacecraft will take two days to reach the space station in an orbit at an altitude of 393 km. After docking with the space station, the Techonauts will enter the station and perform a number of scientific and technological experiments over a period of thirty days. This will be China's longest manned mission in space, with the previous mission lasting only two weeks.

It should be noted that in previous missions three pilots were launched in the Shenzhou spacecraft, while in this mission only two were launched, and this is to extend the duration of the mission and to test the ability to stay in space for a "medium period of time". This capability is considered by China to be essential for the construction of a large and modular space station, consisting of three different units, the completion of which will happen, according to the current schedule, in 2022.

After completing the mission aboard the station, the Techonauts will return to the Shenzhou spacecraft, detach from the station and return to Earth a day later, so that the total duration of the mission will last 33 days.

At a press conference held on Saturday, the deputy director of China's Manned Space Engineering Office, Wu Ping, said that the technical specifications of the new Shenzhou spacecraft are largely similar to the previous spacecraft launched in 2013, but that several changes and improvements have been made. Among other things, changes were made in the technique of reaching the desired trajectory for docking with the space station, which, unlike the missions conducted with the previous space station, Tiangong 1, will be conducted at an altitude of 393 km and not 343 km. Wu also said that the new space station, Tiangong 2, is in "good" condition and ready for the manned mission.

  1. A question to Elisef Kussman, what is the higher International Space Station or Tiangog 2 and how long has the International Space Station and the island been manned continuously and in what year

  2. When they start flying tycoons into space just because they paid enough money, I suggest you start punctuating the word takenaut to avoid confusion.
